love it - but i suggest the 20th december
  • Welcome back vickietm - looking forward to seeing WtP.

sk00bie - kitty stocking looks lovely.

shelly - great result with the wedding outfit. Just knew the CC would be adored.

scotstwinmum- my needles always end up down the side of the sofa :o

sweetcarer - your sampler is beautiful. Hope you are well.

Had a bit of a shopping trip this afternoon and found these photocards in £land - they might come in useful for xmas stitchy cards.

Got some of the larger zippy bags from Ikea - 30 for £3. They are really strong bags but I just fancied the larger ones for when I'm putting charts etc in with the sorted threads.
Also had a flying visit into HC but didn't hang around too long before I got tempted.

Transferred some money into PayPal this morning and discovered that the funds are in account immediately. Thought I would top up balance before I order stitchy stuff later in the week. Thats how things should be with all the technology that is around these days.

    OFF TOPIC
DH has made some limoncello and we have just tried it for the first time and I must say the result is very good. All it is is vodka, lemons and sugar. Apparently you can do something similar with Black Jacks - I used to love Black Jacks as a kid ;). These drinks are supposed to be for xmas btw :o

    Take care everyone

This is cute. What is it like stitching on the perforated paper? is the paper quite flimsy? or is it actually quite sturdy for stitching on ??

Important notes to remember next time I plan a little day trip....

When researching trains for more than one trip at the same time – check the dates! This will avoid rushing to the station from the shops only to find the train you intend to catch doesn't exist and you are stuck at the station with a 40 minute plus wait. Despite however many times you check the departures board – the train you thought you were catching isn't going to magically appear.....

Then you discover the book you thought you wanted to read is boring and you have left your kindle at home – therefore, next lesson, make sure you plan for all eventualities - thank goodness for cross stitch and ipod touch/audible book listen!

When returning home from the concert, do make use of the facilities before you leave for the hour or so journey home. Then when you find yourself not far from home with an unintended detour due to road closures (for roadworks – how inconsiderate). It will not matter.....

Also research places to eat a bit more carefully. Don't rely on the chain pub you visit frequently back home being up to the same standard. I should have known when I arrived (and saw all the dirty/uncleared tables) that the food would be a disappointment.

I did have a nice day out yesterday although I do seem to have become adverse to shopping as it was many hours before I had actually spent any money. I did visit the local haberdashery shop – they sell a small limited range of cross stitch but the prices were just  This shop sells mainly fabric so the cross stitch stuff is just a bonus but if it sold only cross stitch supplies and wool, I can't see how it would survive. I don't mean to be harsh when I say that but I found myself wanting to leave the shop and so didn't look round properly because everything I looked at was outside of my budget and just appeared overpriced :( I would much rather give my business to sew and so even if it meant waiting a day or two.

Today I intend to have a lazy day. i.e. sofa/stitching/tv

It's not really paper, more like card :) And it's fine to stich on, although I think you need to use more strands of thread to get good coverage. This kit is using 3 strands on 14ct paper and if I was doing my own design I'd do the same.

Might finish this today actually, then I can start the angel one.

Didn't manage any stitching at home last night though :( was too tired again. I did spend all night sourcing materials for another project. Here's hoping for some stitching tonight :rotfl:

Speaking of my other project, anyone know where I can get a 9 or 10 inch square box frame from? I've found a few but none are deep enough, most are about 4cm deep and I need about 10cm... HELP! :)
