Ridiculous offer from buyer

can you post a link so we can all see this wonderful home ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

yep, that may just be an opening offer.
So maybe your parents should tell the estate agents that while they are open to offers that is far too low for them to accept.0 -
Considering I have nothing better to do, I've had a quick shufty on right move (taking into account not all houses are on right move). Within 40miles of Harrogate, which seems to be the OPs area, there are two houses that have been listed since 2008, none that have been up for 6 years (out of nearly 200 listed at 300K).
The vast majority of houses listed have had their asking price reduced at least once (and in many cases several times), suggesting that actually people are not buying at the OPs price range, and these are some very nice big houses. If the OP is real, then he needs to look at what houses are selling for not what they are asking.
Seems strange the OP has said previously that his parents need to sell for financial reasons, yet they haven't sold in 6 years. Surely push would have come to shove by now. Again, if the OP is real, I wouldn't laugh the couple off, I'd see if they'd up their offer slightly.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
Definite wind-up thread. First we're told the price was dropped by 15k. Then apparently it was 50k. Not to mention the 6 years on the market...don't think I've ever seen a house on the market for that long.0

After six offers of asking price not completing id get shot asap as it must be cursed0

OP is mid thirties. Should be looking at getting out and giving mum and dad a break.0

Hehe, still laughing about this one. I live at home with my parents (I'm late 20's) and we've had the house on the market for about 6 years. In that time we've had every type of over-enthusiastic time-waster, liars & !!!!-takers imaginable, but it's ok because we've moved a few times before and are used to it, so we never get our hopes up.
But still.
The house is on for £300k, dropped by £15k. We had this couple round last week, they rang up with 2 hours notice yesterday for a second viewing with their parents. They had another quick walk round, told us all about their expensive cars, race horses etc, very impressive. *yawns*
Today the estate agent begrudgingly rings us with their embarrassing offer - not only that, but with their reason to justify it.
They offered £40k less than the asking price; is that because the house needs updating? Next to a busy road? Needs urgent repairs? Hell no! It's because they want to build a massive extension and they want US to pay for it! Ha!
Hahahaha! :rotfl:
I tell you, hilarious. Do I have MUG written across my face?
Gotta hand it to them, I really didn't see that one coming. Well played, sirs. :T
erm, house has been on market for 6 years. Currently a buyers market. Someone offers 13% below asking price?
Am I missing something or are you totally deluded?
When I bought mine, I initially offered 25% less, got it fot 16% less in the end.0 -
I suggest the op posts a link to the house.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
I see on the news that house prices have dropped, but I don't see that on the market when we're looking for houses to buy.
That's because people, precisely like yourself, aren't willing to sell at market price.
This is perfectly understandable given most people have negative equity or spent 5-10 years paying off the difference between purchase and resale value, but at the same time, you have to realise that this has given you an unrealistic perception of the market since you have chosen to make conclusions based of asking prices (not selling prices)
Market price = where demand and supply meets.
If 260k is the best offer you get (real offer) then it might just be the best price you can get. If you look to buy a property yourself you'll be doing similar hussling no doubt!0 -
I'm looking forward to the next update in 2018 already....0
