Ridiculous offer from buyer

Hehe, still laughing about this one. I live at home with my parents (I'm late 20's) and we've had the house on the market for about 6 years. In that time we've had every type of over-enthusiastic time-waster, liars & !!!!-takers imaginable, but it's ok because we've moved a few times before and are used to it, so we never get our hopes up.
But still.
The house is on for £300k, dropped by £15k. We had this couple round last week, they rang up with 2 hours notice yesterday for a second viewing with their parents. They had another quick walk round, told us all about their expensive cars, race horses etc, very impressive. *yawns*
Today the estate agent begrudgingly rings us with their embarrassing offer - not only that, but with their reason to justify it.
They offered £40k less than the asking price; is that because the house needs updating? Next to a busy road? Needs urgent repairs? Hell no! It's because they want to build a massive extension and they want US to pay for it! Ha!
Hahahaha! :rotfl:
I tell you, hilarious. Do I have MUG written across my face?
Gotta hand it to them, I really didn't see that one coming. Well played, sirs. :T

Indeed
Why not £50k under the AP and avoid jump in SDLT?It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

6 years? Something wrong there ... perhaps their offer was realistic.0

i'd snap their hand off, if i were you!! house prices have dramatically changed in 6 years.0

The house has been up for sale for six years and no takers. I think I know who the deluded time-wasters might be.0

Maybe its you who has been wasting everybody's time with an over-inflated asking price?Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!
Mortgage free II: New Year's Eve 2013!

Housing market crash, darling. When they started chucking rumours around about stamp duty a few years ago, every house over £250k in this area was stuck.
Anyway, ball's back in their court now.0 -
If it's been on the market for 6 years there is either something wrong with it, priced too high or your a time wasting seller who puts your house on the market but really doesn't want to sell. My guessing it's all three.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

No takers? More like 5 prospective buyers, of which 3 were made redundant and 2 had their companies change their minds about relocating them.0
