Mushy Peas

The Asda ones for me are the best they have less colour in them more a dull green. But the other week they shot up to 16 or was it 18p from 4p so I didnt buy any. I also like the Tesco ones too haven't tried Morrisons or SainsburysI've had these before and remember watching a programme not too long ago (the one where that guy makes 'processed' food in a barn type thing I think!), and naturally the peas are that colour - the bright green we're used to seeing in mushy peas is just colouring added in.
I've always preferred the Asda ones too because they've got no colouring added, some of the processed & mushy peas you see are not even pea green, they're more of a bright blue :eek:bornintoit wrote:the ASDA mushy peas are back down to 4p
I'll stock up again now they're back down in price

fry off an onion and a red pepper then add 2 tins of peas and a tin of baked beans and curry powder to your taste. simmer, don't boil, for 10-15 mins
curry in a hurry, very healthy, slimming world free and cheap!
can add cooked chicken or potatoes or quorn pieces if desired
yum:jBe Amazing0 -
The Asda ones are great, not much colour in them as when I first seen them I put them in the bin as I thought they was off! but then opened the next one and they looked the same.
They taste really nice though, definitely worth buying, I love them

Batgirl....I love curry. And I love mushy peas.
But the thought of mushy pea curry made me feel a bit squeamish,
But I made it anyway...I didn't use peppers or baked beans, just an onion and some scrapings of a jar of pataks curry paste that I had lying around.
Have to say it is scrummy! So thanks for that.
I make pea soup with a couple of tins of mushys and a handful of frozen casserole veg and a rasher or two of bacon that i fry till crispy.

Even though I don't like the wishy-washy colour there are numerous 4p Asda tins in my store cupboard - now where is that green food colouring to make them look a bit more appetising!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thanks OP.
The marrowfat peas at 14pence look exactly the same.
So when buying several trays be careful.0 -
I got mushy peas in Aldi yesterday for 6p, I have not tried them yet but hopefully they will taste OK and be a welcome cheap addition to my stock cupboard

Mushy peas are reduced to 4p in my local ALDI (Lincoln) I always add seasoning and a bit of mint sauce and they taste great! :j0
