Hi, I am after some assistance with a financial matter if anyone could help, its much appreciated. I needed a quick fix loan of just £150 and was searching numerous companies via my mobile. Stupidly, I was just putting my personal info on a few companies I had heard off, but Loans Direct seemed to give me the answer or hope I was looking for. Could offer low loans with quick repayments or if I wanted more then I could apply. I just entered details as I was in work and needed this cash asap.
needless to say I was gutted when they had took £69.95 from my account. I only wanted £100 - £150 max and yet they took that with a promise of "finding me the right loan"
The matter of this issue now is, within that hour I rang the company to cancel the membership ASAP. They were all to enthusiastic to explain why this membership is second to none and I would reap the rewards. That was in December 2013.........I am still waiting for this refund!!!!!! You cant just ring and cancel, you have to print a form off and send back. You then don't get a FULL REFUND as they like to deduct allsorts of fees for stupid things. £15 for a credit cleaner.....£1 per day for the membership being active.
For anybody out there who can advise on my next step I will gladly take your advice and more. I have emailed on countless times as I have done via phone. I have refused my first offer of £49.95 as I WANT that full refund.
My advice to anyone would be keep clear of this farce company, they are making peoples lives misery by making a simple request, and absolute mammoth task!!!!

I know it can be tedious and time consuming, but read through all the posts above and then follow through with what you are told on how to get the whole of your money back, with maybe a £5 deduction which they are allowed by law to make.

You can only get a FULL refund if you cancel within 14 days, cancelling is not done over the phone, writing means a letter in the post.

So you first applied back in December 13 am I right ?

Why have you left it so long to do anything about it ?

You should have typed a letter to them back in December requesting your money back. I take it you did read the T&C's ?

No lender will not request/require payment up front for a loan, that much I can guarantee.

What was the money actually needed for ?
  • I don't think it is helpful to say that people are not intelligent for signing up to these things My son in young, naive in financial matters and unemployed. He signed up and they made him virtually destitute by taking the £70 fee, leaving him £30 to live on (and go to job interviews with) for 2 weeks. They make it as difficult as possible to get the money back. They are like old-fashioned money-lenders with no morals or humanity. This type of brokerage should be banned - end of. They have made me very angry by insisting that everything now needs to be in writing, whereas when they were after his money everything could be done on line. It's just a license to print money and take people for a ride. I shall be writing to my MP about them. And, once he has his money back, I shall be finding out who their CEO is and writing to him also. How can someone unemployed be expected to do all this (e.g have a computer and printer etc etc) - he is lucky I have helped him out with money also (although I don't have much spare myself). They make me very angry indeed. And, just to reiterate, saying their workers are more intelligent than those who apply is a red herring. This is just immoral.

Instead of all that, why don't you focus your efforts on persuading your Son to save money?

He has £100 to last two weeks but was quite happpy to take a loan out.
How was he going to repay a loan?
How is it he can afford to give more of his money away than he receives?

What would have happened had he actually received a loan and faced a large payment next month, and the month after?

Schools don't teach kids this stuff so it up to the Parents to ensure their children don't fall for this. I don't just mean the broker fees, I mean the whole concept of swapping small amounts of the lenders money for large amounts of your own.

If your child is unemployed, for pitties sake don't help him find a loan!!

I was young once and never resorted to a loan broker or a pay day loan, same with everyone I know who had different situations in life.

I bet it details on the site they take a fee and what service they provide. Maybe check that out before you waste the time of the MP.
  • I just called Loans Direct UK on 0844 823 7960 after falling for their very skillfully laid trap. I followed the automated call directory for cancellations over the phone which is simply option 4 and then 2 I got through to a lady on the other side instantly. Which as I've read on this thread makes me very lucky. I answered a few verify questions about my name postcode and mobile number, she tried selling me a loan but I declined and asked to cancel and she did it over the phone quoting that because my membership fee hadn't been charged yet all she needed to do was close the account. And that would end everything including the damn sales txts/e-mails.

Have I just avoided a headache and all the problems everyone else is having, or have I just been politely lied to? Has anyone else tried the same thing and still been charged later?

I am going to stay aware because everything seams a little too straight forward from what I've read here.
  • Just thought I let people know I was stiffed by loans direct for £67.74 then cashlocator.org for £66.84 these people know that you must have money problems and have no worries heaping more on you:mad:
  • I had 69.95 debited from my card then untold other companies that loans direct are involved with. After being promised an immediate refund I had to write to east Sussex. Then they still mess u about with pointless text messages saying your refund is nearly ready. I'm still waiting now and it's been over a week. The companies phone number is even wrong. Jokers loans direct. They steal your money stay well away:mad:

Did they steal the money or is it detailed on the website that £69.95 will be taken ?
