Can I just say.. I was able to cancel the loans direct thing but it was a moment of desperation whereby the dog needed the vet asap that led to spiral of using these sites... I understand that a lot of people are frustrated at having to repeat the advice of don't use these sites but I think it would be more productive and helpful if you move on from the post rather than make people feel worse... if we made it on money saving expert site we know how silly it is and whilst we may not divulge our entire circumstances you choice to judge and scold is NOT helpful...

Thanks to those posters or offered genuine advice and support - This is what this site is for... not holier than thou attitudes!

You are like ex smokers ;)

Oh and PS credit cleaner are adamant that i entered my own details and signed up to them however checking my cache internet history I know they are liars! but 3 months wont be refunded anyway even though i've never accessed the account and my comp quarantined the only e-mail they sent me!!

I pretty sure it came with the loan direct stuff but everyone is pointing at me... I cancelled the loan direct immediately as straight away could see wasn't what I had thought... Credit Clean seem to think i applied directly however and are using this as the argument for refusing the refund. As far as i'm concerned it should have cancelled with the Loan direct cancellation as they opened thing !!!...

Even if you applied directly with them, they can't refuse a refund.

If you are still within 14 days, you have a right in law to a full refund. If longer than 14 days you have the right to a refund less £5 they can deduct.

As long as you follow their requirements to get a refund in their T&C's, if they refuse a refund then go to the FCA and make a complaint which will work out very expensive indeed for the company. Don't be afraid to threaten them with the FCA. This often works as the company knows the consequences.

AS I FEEL THIS IS MUCH MORE SENSIBLE THAN DEFAULTING ON A LOAN, THEY NOW WANT ME TO MAGIC MONEY FROM SOME WHERE TO PAY FOR THE PRINT IN THE FIRST INSTANCES (AS I DO NOT OWN A PRINTER) AND THEN SEND THEM THE FORM IN THE POST DELAYING THINGS BY EVEN MORE TIME.

I CAN NOT BUY FOOD, CAT FOOD, PAY OUTSTANDING BILLS AND RENT AND PUT ELECTRIC ON WITH £7 THAT THEY HAVE LEFT ME WITH FROM MY BENEFITS, SO IM NOW GOING TO STRUGGLE TO EAT, AND SURVIVE. LET ALONE PUT ANY ELECTRIC ON OR PAY RENT OR MY BILLS.

WOULD I BE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION FOR THIS AS THE UN DUE STRESS THEY ARE CAUSING ME AND THE FACT IM NOW IN A WORSE FINANCIAL POSITION THAN I WAS BEFORE THEY TOOK THIS MONEY FROM ME?? SURELY WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND THEY ARE SUGGESTING I DO IS NOT CORRECT, AND LEGAL, ?? IF IT IS... THEN HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??

I FEEL LIKE I JUST WANT TO GIVE UP BUT I CANT DO THAT AND WANT TO KNOW WHERE I STAND WITH REGARDS TO THIS SITUATION AND THE PREDICAMENTS IM NOW FACED WITH NO THANKS TO LOANS DIRECT UK LTD.

    PLEASE HELP ME.

    YOURS SINCERLY

    PAUL BARTON

  • Using all capital letters makes your post very hard to read.

I haven't read it all - it's virtually impossible to do. Did you read the Terms and Conditions which you will have ticked as understanding?

As far as Loans Direct are aware you checked the box saying to had agreed to their terms and condictions.

    The top of which says:
It is our responsibility to provide you with the Terms and Conditions of Membership. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ THEM. To help you to do this we have avoided using complicated legal terms and used clear, concise language to explain our services.

If you wish to cancel your Loans Direct membership then there are two things you need to do:
    1. Contact your bank and get them to cancel the Continuous Payment Authority (CAP) you have set up so Loans Direct can take the joining fee and a monthly membership fee.
    2. Contact Loans Direct...in writing...pen and paper...and send it recorded delivery to:

DCFC. You are perfectly correct. I've just had a look and it says in large letters this size:
"We charge a simple one-off membership fee of £69.75"

    Hi everyone,

I checked my bank account yesterday to see that i had payments taken from my account from Loans direct & Loan wizard uk. In total they took £139.60 - Loans direct £69.75 and Loan wizard £0.10 and £67.80 and £1.95.

What i don't understand is why they have taken money from my bank account when i've never used their services - ever. I had never even heard of either of them until i googled them after seeing they had taken money from me.

I have had previous payday loans in the past. I had also been searching for a loan around the days that they debited my account but i had never used either of their sites. I would never willingly pay a company to find me a loan that i could find myself on google. Especially not at the rate they charge... and certainly not twice from 2 *different companies.

*I have read online from other users that they operate as 2 separate companies but are in fact the same people. - They admitted this over the phone to someone who had experienced a similar situation as me.

Towards the end of last week i used google to pull up some payday lenders. I used a loan search engine (not sure which one it was, but it was neither of these 2) I knew it was free because i didn't have a penny in my account for them to take by the end of the month so what would i be doing wasting my time PAYING for someone to find me a company i can find myself with a simple google search.

I then began to get contacted from a plethora of different companies, offering me a payday loan, all i had to do was click the link in the email to confirm and the funds would be paid into my account. They harassed me every minute of the day - calls, texts and emails.. constantly. From companies that i'd never even heard of. - it got to the point where i ended up changing my mobile phone number and email address because it was constant. I've known nothing like it. I even missed a day at work because of the harassment - I turned the vibrate off on my phone when i went to bed, they drained my battery which meant my alarm didn't go off when my phone died in the middle of the night!!

The companies that i was contacted by, saying i was eligible for a loan with them where companies that had recently turned me down for very small loans. There was also (mostly) lenders that i'd never even heard of before. - I knew there was no truth to what they said in their messages.

I've searched my messages with a fine toothed come and found absolutely not 1 email or text from either loans direct or loan wizard. - nothing at all.

I don't know how they have taken it upon themselves to steal money from me when i haven't gave any consent to them to do so. I've never accepted or signed an agreement with either. - I assume they took my details from the search i made online through the loan search.

I got paid on 28th of May, after i paid my bills, holiday payment and a flight that i have to take i'm left with around £100 for the rest of the month... baring in mind we are 1 day in! I'm very, very upset and angry because i can NOT live off £100 for the month. I still have a phone bill to pay, fuel costs to work every day, food for myself and my dog and my dry cleaning bills every week for my uniform (its dry clean only, it can not be washed at home) and also i'm due to pay a car payment that is more than what i have been left with from them. - Please understand that if they had not taken anything from me, i would have struggled to get by this month.. but what they have taken, i would have been able to survive. Now i'm not going to have a penny left past the end of the week!

I just don't know where to turn or what to do, i'm hoping that someone on here can help point me in the right direction of what i can do first to recover the money that they have taken from me. I'd also like to know if they will take anything else from me? - do they charge weekly/monthly charges also?

I'm left at the start of the month with nothing. They have really caused me a lot of problems, stress and anxiety.

I've read from some of these posts that you can claim the money back from them minus the £5 "admin" costs that they are legally allowed to keep. I wondered if anyone has dealt with BOTH of these companies before and at the same time? How did it work out for you? did you ever get the money back and have you, like me never agreed anything with them to find you a loan and debit your account for the "privilege"?.

I'd be really grateful for any help that anyone can give me, i'm completely stressed out and don't know what on earth i've got to do. I feel like my bank account is unsecured, with them being able to take my money whenever they feel. I really don't want to go down the road of cancelling my bank account and having to set up a new account number and card number as i've got my direct debits all due to come out.

Thank you for reading and i'm very sorry its such a long post, but i'm totally just stuck and don't know what to do.
