older children in pushchairs!

If you never give children dummies then they never miss them. If they suck their thumb then admonish them. Just another bad habit that pandering parents encourage.
Many children need the comfort the sucking mechanism provides, be that a dummy or a thumb. They grow out of it quickly and it does no long term harm. That is not pandering it is understanding the needs of a child.0 -

I hope it does no long term damage, as I say though my now teenage cousin still has bent teeth due to late dummy sucking. If the child wants it fair enough, It is just not nice seeing children forced to do things they dont want or need to be doing.'Football is part of I, when I play the world wakes up around me' - Bob Marley

I wasnt making a point of the swearing, it was the fact thats how i knew the kids age.
Smug? I am not smug at all, I fail to see how you have drawn that conclusion
I think the point is that other parents will be looking askance at some of the things you consider to be good parenting. Everyone has different ways of doing things, as long as your child turns out happy and healthy and a contributing member of society it matters little.
In the scheme of things how long a child has a dummy or a pushchair is insignificant, especially when they are not yours!!0 -

However, when a perfectly able child (and some are) are being carted about because their parents are too lazy to deal with them (which happens) and take up precious spaces on bus's and lifts ETC in my view this is frustrating, would you not agree?'Football is part of I, when I play the world wakes up around me' - Bob Marley

TBH I think you might need to look at the whole picture of why someone is using a pushchair at a late age, there could be many underlying factors as to why the child is in the pushchair.
Yes, it could be that the parents just didn't get out of bed in time so put the child in the pushchair for convenience. Or there could be underlying factors like disabilities, being big for their age, have a long distance to walk etc. I confess, I took my son's buggy with us on holiday when he was 3.5 yrs oldJust made it so much easier for us all to enjoy a break and meant we didn't need to be back in the hotel room at 7 for him to go to sleep, we could get his jammies on and he would then climb into the buggy when he was tired
Other than that I didn't use it at home.
As for dummies. Both mine were weaned off it at 2, although the dd used to like to carry it around in her hand for comfortAlthough, again, some children with disabilities prefer their routine and if that means a dummy so be it.
The OP seems to have gone from having a bugbear with toddlers in pushchairs to swearing at the kids as if they are trying to prove their point. Of course speaking to children like this is never nice, and hear my neighbours at it constantly.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I would far rather they were in a pushchair if they have parents who are indifferent than running unsupervised round shopping centres or on pavements too close to the road for comfort.0

Just to clarify, are you saying I swear at kids?'Football is part of I, when I play the world wakes up around me' - Bob Marley

Well when its peeing down with rain and I'm at Blackpool for example, and there a bus home with 1 more pram space occupied by a child big enough to walk it gets me mad, yes I would soon apologize if the required that pushchair but if they were just victim of lazy parents it would frustrate me.'Football is part of I, when I play the world wakes up around me' - Bob Marley

When on holiday or on days out many parents walk a lot more than when they are at home. For that reason lots choose to put older children in buggies, little legs soon get tired and a grisly child ensues. Plus they can nap on the move.0 -
