60 year old widow needs some advice to survive

Social housing is based on "number of rooms"
At the moment - till April they'd pay 100% - from April they are introducing a bedroom tax.
ie if you bid on a 2 bedroom - in April you;d pay a "tax" - approx 14% on the unoccupied room.
So technically the most you'd pay is 14% on a 2 bed - assuming they don't change the rules again.
A 1 bedroom and you'd pay zero
That is only MY understanding - but others will correct me if I am wrong and are better placed to give advice
Re cost v rent - whole other debate. My Grandma had to move into an over 55's place. She is a widower and pays £134 a WEEK plus maintenance charges. She is 21p above the limit due to a private pension to get HB - 21p less she'd not pay a penny nor her CTB.0 -

I've read this 3 times and still don't understand it. Are you asking if the rents are over £100 a week? I think you need to find out the cost of the rents first, or alternatively look on RightMove or Zoopla and see what you can find.0 -

Why are we still referred to as "the United Kingdom" when we are clearly not united! Care home and uni fees are still free in Scotland, I believe, and why should those in Scotland and Wales, get their bus passes earlier than their English counterparts?
I'm glad for the Welsh and Scottish, but it would be nice if the English didn't have to still stump up for these items.

Why should people living in Wales (English people live in Wales...) have to put up with NHS waiting lists that are massively longer than England's, an ambulance service that performs far more poorly than England, a lack of cancer drugs available in England?
I'm glad for "the English", but...0 -

Another job you can do is as a taxi escort for disabled children, i just applied to all the taxi firms. You get £8 per run they always need cover. The driver picks you up and drops you home so no transport costs. It costs 76 for the badge but they take 2.50 out of your wages a week. There mainly pensioners who do this.0
