what does it say on your mot fail sheet?
most car modifications are legal for example its stuff like heavily tinted front side windows, large windscreen strips, ebay aftermarket headlights that are ce approved, decat pipes and aftermarket hid kits-unless a dome or headlight washers are retrofitted at the same time.
Stuff like suspension, wheels, engine mods are nearly all legal
one of the easiest ways to remove sunstrips is to use boiling water just pour it on give it a few seconds (allow to cool just enough to touch without burning yourself) it will become soft and plyable then just peel away from one of the lower corners
They didn't even get to do a fail sheet. Simply took a look at it and said it would not pass
Could the screen not crack with boiling water? Savings £18,000 / £25,000 :beer:0 -
Subaru UK have often played a little fast and loose with the rules on their more interesting cars. Look at some of the special editions like the WR1 for example. It has a CO2 figure identical to the standard WRX STI and when you buy it is is actually the same car, but the purchase price included a 1000 mile service where they change the exhaust, intake, ECU map and other gubbins. It'll still pass an MOT emissions test but you know damn well it's no longer got a CO2 figure of "just" 265 any more.
If all it's failing on is a windscreen sticker, you're doing OK I think. Find a better MOT station.0 -

May not be bad thing.0 -
I don't get the whole "look at the sticker, i drive a subaru" thing. I also don't get the buying a rally car, unless you're going to go rallying, thing either. (apologies OP if your OH does go rallying in it)
I also don't get why Subaru drivers have to take off at traffic lights like a bat out of hell. Yes, i understand you have a fast car, i don't need proof.
Aston Martins are fast cars, you don't see stickers on those.0 -

. It's not chavvy cheap mods that you get on crappy corsas but it is ridiculously modded as it was a rally race car owned by Subaru so had to be flashy. If I knew how to post pictures on here I would.
I guess I could get the strip taken off, but I don't really want to have to pay to have it done properly (im a girl and would not be able to do it myself at all)0 -

you do know this is an ex rally car built and run by prodrive for Subaru and has been competing in a televised event*
*if it really is a prodrive built car which I presume as it has Subaru sun strip, but it could be a privateer run car or even a rally replica only the OP knows0 -

Some say it's more fuel efficient for them to do that, as was discussed to death in the economical driving thread a few months back.
Of course it's even more fuel efficient to simply not drive a turbocharged petrol-engined Subaru0 -

Does this make them think they're saving money then
My little car might get me home 15 minutes after the Subaru driver but if it means i can afford my 2 weeks in Florida i know which i'd rather drive !
Wonder if the Subaru will do 400 miles on £40 of petrol ? And cost £20 a year to tax ?0 -
impreza's arent that bad on fuel the boxer engine is pretty good off turbo when i had mine was getting over 300 to a tank (on long runs)
it all depends how its driven i remember last year or so top gear had a prius and a m3 go round the test track the prius going as fast as possible and the m3 was only to keep to the same pace after the lap the m3 was more economical by a few mpg
out of interest what is the spec of the car its a rep or a full on from shell built rally car0 -

Maybe the trick would have been not to drive the Prius as fast as possible?0
