Yes, I will do it now time forces it on me.
When you hate your degree with a passion and you can not do it.
But I know I can not roll about on my bed anymore nearly crying especially when I scratched my face by mistake and it hurt.:beer:0 -
So far today- and I am job hunting as well- I have
done a load of washing
hung out 2 loads of washing

I have got to learn to manage this stress and anxiety better rather that being in my room and so frustrated I want to pull my head off.
For goodness sake phil just STOP! First things first: get stuck in to your work and concentrate on the here and now - get your research project done!
After you finish your work get studying for your finals! You should at this point I would imagine have completed your project? Have you left it a bit late considering you have final exams in 3-4 weeks time???
You go on about looking for GOOD jobs and your future may be bleak because you are worried about the degree you will have - be careful, if you carry on like this you may find you won't even have a degree!!
STOP looking for difficulties and obstacles that you MAY come across - your are constantly worrying about things that may not happen - you are only starting out and even if you don't get the dream job now you will have to learn to strive and work towards that goal.
You were on here until gone 2am this morning and back on here again before 11am!! Where is your sense, get down to your project and the 3000 words you need to complete!
Forget about looking and applying for jobs until you complete this project and your study for your finals. You are looking too far ahead at this point - get a grip phil and stop with the what ifs!0 -
Tobruk, I have done half of it and I know what I want to write but still 3000 words left to do.
I know live in what ifs but it is better than thinking about this degree that makes me so annoyed.
I have tried to find help from tutors and other support at uni but they just can not help me even though I am almost dying inside due to struggling.
But they just do not get it that I can not cope.
So what ifs are my own only way to cope as looking for a bright future is the only way I can get through it.
It is really hard to struggle alone with no where to turn and no one to help you.:beer:0 -

Phil, it sounds like you need help with this, there should be some person at uni who is there ('pastoral' person?) to discuss this with who will at least understand what you are going through. The only way to get through this wall is to start writing, once you have started you will be able to finish it, especially as you say you know what you want to write.
You would think there would be but there is only "not my job to help you" pass the buck to someone else.
It just leaves you feeling alone and completely lost.
Maybe you should be able to write several thousand words on your own with no help, but for a whole range of reasons I find it very hard.:beer:0 -
Phil
With the best will in the world, none of us here can
a) write your assignment for you
b) apply for jobs for you
I had umpteen "blocks" when i did my degree.
Most of them were because I spent far too long tihnking and not enough time doing.
One trick- and dont argue the toss with me about it, if you only have 3000 words left, at least 1000 words are the conclusion and your footnotes etc.
If you have been organised and done your footnotes as youve been going along, well done. IF NOT, take some time OFF- ie log off here. And concentrate on getting that done.
Then, make lunch & go for a walk around the block. While you are doing this, think about your conclusion, what are you going to conclude. Come back & write that.
then you will have a gap, but your conclusion should tell you what that gap is.
Then write the gap
When I did my disseration I chose the most ridiculous subject inthe world and was exceptionally difficult. At the end of the day NO ONE can write your disseration for you. If you GENUIELY CANT do it, then hand it in as it is, and stop wasting time flogging a dead horse and get on with doing your revision notes, so at least thats something you can focus on.
Then focus on getting a job afterwards.
At the end of the day, life in general is more successful when you are about as organised as you can be. work with the 15 min rule if you have a shortt attention span as I do, 35 if you can handle 35. But dont waste your time on here moaning and griping about nothing getting done. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Thinking about what ifs now is pointless phil, you may be annoyed with this degree BUT THINK, you only have a few weeks left and it will be over, just one final hurdle - you need to focus and get down to it.
Fran is right you need to see someone at the University and there should be someone there to help you, they can't fob you off!
Go and have some lunch and then get down to your research project, you will feel better if you complete it - set yourself a target and forget about looking beyond the next 3-4 weeks and just focus on your degree. In a month or so this degree you hate so much will be over, thing of the joy of closing this chapter and then you can begin to think of the next.
Oh yes, don't stay up until the early hours on this forum - you need the rest so that you can focus on your work and get it done.0 -
Thanks, I will get on with it and get it finished.
I think it is just the way universities are. Tutors are far far too busy with research rating pressures to have time to support students. Disability support has so many disabled people at the uni they have no time to help you either, so you are just passed all the time between the two.:beer:0
