Spill the beans... on how to minimise loo paper use

I was brought up [toilet trained] with the crispy non absorbant "Bronco" TP. It was hopeless for cleansing purposes but was unrivalled for the construction of the comb harmonica. Wrap one sheet over a plastic comb, put it to your lips and play away. So much less expensive than purchasing a harmonica and great fun.0

I don't understand why anyone would spend £4 on toilet rolls? Recycled toilet paper (which is decent quality) is available in Lidl. You get either 12 or 16 rolls for less than £2.0

I hate it when using a public toilet or staying at an hotel when they supply really cheap, thin toilet paper. It's such a false economy as you need to use far more than you would with a decent quality paper. I prefer Aldi's Aloe Vera which also has pleasant perfume to it as well as being good quality0

Iceland Bog Roll's pretty good I find. A compromise between cheap at £1 for 4 thick 3 ply ones, and reasonably soft.0

As a origarmy follower I usually get three or 4 wipes out of 2 pieces.:T0

In some customs they only clean with water. There will be a sort length of hose connected to a tap. Aim the spray towards the persons bottom after defecation. Walla!0

To those people who use cloths and wash them; a few years ago the British government carried out a survey on the environmental impact of using terry nappies against disposable ones. The conclusion was that while they each had a different effect, their impact on the environment was equal.
Those of you buying recycled paper are probably not paying any less. When I worked in tissue manufacture, we used as much recycled fibre as the recycling plant could give us. This could vary from 0 to 50%.0 -
I am going to TMI you all -- I have to use a lot of toilet paper even when I pee because I like to wipe away all my cervical fluid (I suspect I leak more than most ladies). I find the most economical way is to use 2-3 sheets at a time (depending on the severity of the situation), wiping and folding/re-wiping as I go, and as things continue, I can use 1-2 sheets, until I get the all clear.
As for bidets, how do you dry yourself afterwards (or do you at all)? I feel like I'd still need a few sheets to blot the water off and I personally wouldn't want to re-use a towel.
I've toyed with the idea of using our wee cloth baby wipe flannels when I pee. I already use them instead of cotton wool when I need to use astringent or cold cream or something on my face....0 -
Use paper and then a wet wipe. You'll find you're cleaner too!:embarasse:embarasse
The best advice you will ever hear. Forget cleaning your bottom with toilet paper after you have emptied your bowels. Do what the muslim world has been doing for the past 1500 years - wash your bottom with water after you have emptied your bowels. Its the most cleanest and hygiene way, try it and you wont regret it. Remember left hand is for washing your bottom. Use toilet paper for drying the water it couldn't be simpler!!!0 -
A number of posters are suggesting these are fir for the loo. They're not: they cause no end of blockages in the sewer system and that ultimately adds to YOUR water bill.
If you must use them they need to be disposed of in the bin - which is hardly hygienic and, therefore, makes them inappropriate for lavatory use.0
