£1 FlipFlops - Wedding Favor
Comments
-
I put a basket of various sized flip flops, slipperettes and little slipper socks beside the dance floor at my wedding and there wasn't any left at the end of the night. Lots of my guests commented how great they were and thanked me for my thoughtfulness. Then again we had a ceilidh and as a good few of my guests had never been to one before I don't think they realised the amount of dancing involved :rotfl:
For favours we gave a mini bottle of whisky or a bottle opener for the men and a honey lip balm or mini bottle of baileys for the ladies. I had my bridesmaids go round the tables with assorted baskets and let people choose what favour they had.Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0 -
I agree with those that say don't bother. I hate flip flops and never wear them (and curse whenever similar type shoes become the fashion, meaning I can't find any nice sandals).
Re favours, they can be moneysavingexpert. I had bonbonieres and the doubled up as table decorations. They were similar to this http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bombonieres&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=0ohHUKe3DIKEhQf-0oDoCw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|1;d|7zDMhLlwBoWdQM: (the Maroon/purple one at the top)0 -

Well it was very thoughtful, but you could have avoided having to worry about it (and the extra expense) if you'd added a bit to your wedding invites mentioning there would be lots of dances and guests might like to bring suitable footwear.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

Seems really bizarre to me, if you've got a spare £100 lying around, put it behind the bar and get everyone a free drink.......0

Oh I never worried about it, I picked them up over time. They were in the wedding budget anyway. I would never have put on my wedding invites to bring comfortable footwear to be honest as everyone knew it was a ceilidhNever look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0 -
I'm not sure if its a good idea or not. If I go to a Wedding and think my feet may hurt later, I just take a pair of my own flats to put on later.
Personally I'd rather dance barefoot than in flip flops, it's probably more difficult than heels!0 -
Personally, the nicest weddings I've been to are ones where the guests have got involved to help with cars, catering, music etc. It is all so much more personal and like you're really helping make the couple's day special (which is what it is all about - the couple). I don't really enjoy weddings where I'm treated like 'millionth generic guest at dedicated wedding venue' or like I'm at some sort of seminar - with an agenda and free gifts.Over futile odds

I also agree that the Americanised approach of 'favours' (UK spelling) is just, well, ugh.
The whole favours thing is just another racket that's been introduced to make people spend more money than they need to on something that will be binned almost immediately by the guests anyway.
100 pairs of flip-flops? Crazy."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Wedding favours have a very useful function. The job of making them up is given to the mother, or MiL. That way they get to feel part of the process, and are kept too busy to get involved in stuff that the bride and groom want to do themselves. That's why it's usually some pretty organza fabric with sweets inside and tied up with ribbon - takes some time to make up 100 of them.

... and don't get me started on personalised M&M's. They see you coming alright."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
