November experiment is underway....
I took out a large quantity of cash this morning and divided it into lots of pre-marked envelopes.... Cash spends, bus money, entertainment etc. All envelopes have gone into a massive cookie jar (tesco value, of course), and I'm going to do my damnedest to stick to the envelopes. This month is experimental amounts: next month I want to drop some of the amounts a bit, see how that goes
I got an unexpected payment from tax credits this morning. I've got no clue what's going on until I get the documentation, but if that's all I'm getting till April then I think I'm justified in panicking and having a worry....

If you report a change it usually triggers a one off payment (even just changing bank details) x0 -

Thanks Hidden, maybe that means things arent as bad as I thought
The truth is I've been in this game (tax credits) for 14 years now, but their system is so complicated and seems so random, I still don't have a clue what's going on half the time!

Yay. Direct debit for Barclaycard didn't go through because of the balance transfer - that counted as this month's minimum payment

Lost a student this morning
long story, almost zero progress, sad really but unfortunately it happens
I do have a new student though, so that should balance the books a bit at least

Thanks, you too
I was planning on going to the big Round Table fireworks display tomorrow but it looks like daughter has a cold so I doubt we'll be going anywhere. I'm defrosting sausages to do GF toad in the hole though, I haven't had homemade TITH in AGES!!!! Yum :T

Got back from visiting Mum's to find everything I need for new credit card and bank accounts has arrived except the card reader from Nationwide. Nearly there....

I just requested credit increases on both Natwest and Tesco credit cards and got one on the Natwest for £900 :T - That has the longest 0% purchase deal too, so thats fab. I can now shift £900 off the overdraft onto 0% debt (slowly and surely by shifting purchasing away from current account, no super balance transfers being offered) in preparation for the inevitable swift barclays overdraft repeal
