  • I've woken up in a slightly better mood than I when went to bed. Paying my tax bill early is still p*****g me off, but I couldn't see any other way round it, so I still think I did the right thing.
I've got a slow week of income coming up as its half term. I do have some teaching, not a lot, but enough to keep the wolves from the door, so that ok.
Lesson planning all day today, and an early trip to work to use their photocopier and save ink money!

  • Have just spend the last twenty minutes re-organising some stuff. Am trying a new way of organising money around in November. Eventually I'll get to something that works 100%. Or 90% at any rate.....

I need to do the same!

I have a Nationwide Flexaccount, which I am keeping open for mystery shopping money, and my new FD account i'm going to use for PAYE earnings, and regular savings.

The Nationwide are great. Their internet site is really easy to use and the customer service is excellent. I have never had any problems with them, so I think you will be fine there.

Sounds like a good plan! The Flexaccount is what I now have. It's good to know its got good online stuff, as I have a co-op account that I got charged on for an unauthorised overdraft last year as their Internet banking is so atrocious i misjudged my balance.
I got my charges refunded, but only after a 4 page complaint letter including 4 dictionary definitions of the word "available" :)

    Good luck with your re-organising!!!!

  • Ar*e. That looks like I've been whistling in the wind since March and doing nothing towards paying off these debts. That is REALLY difficult to look at right now. I know it's not as bad as it looks - my tax is paid, something I was panicking about, I can sit back a bit now and chill and just work on repayments instead of fretting about finding nearly a grand.

I'm opening an ISA ASAP for next year.

  • Just informed tax credits that I'm no longer doing LSA work. That was fun. I'm waiting with very baited breath for verdict to come through post. I think my estimate for income is higher than last time I spoke to them, so I'm not looking forward to what's about to drop onto the letter box :(

This week has been weird. To use the phrase up and down would be the understatement of the century :(

According to the tax credits calculator, I'm about to lose £200 a month :(

  • Still feeling very miserable about my lack of knowledge of what's going on financially and potential loss of majority of tax credits :(
However, I have a very short working day today (1 hour) and I have some Argos vouchers that have to be used before the 30th so am buying daughter a new duvet set as she has a king size duvet that was given to her by a friend but is currently unsuccessfully squeezing it into a double duvet cover

I'm also taking her in to spend some more of her money on another ear piercing....

And I promised a meal out tonight as a half term treat.

So a sort of expensive day but really it's only the meal... The rest is her money or vouchers!

I dusted off my bike yesterday :) after riding it to cycle maintenance I remembered how much I love cycling and how much it can save me in bus fares... I think I started to intensely dislike the thing after having to haul it around train stations and ride like the clappers to get home with a ten minute window between LSA work and private teaching. It's a shame because I actually really love cycling and it's so cheap! I'll get back on it now, although I do need some proper thick gloves for winter :)

  • Wow only haven't posted for a few days and look at how much you have done!

It must be a huge relief not having to worry about the tax bill even if it is on the CC.

Hope you and DD are well :) Happy weekend :) X
  • Thank you hidden, I hope you are having a good weekend too :)

You're right, the tax bill is a huge weight off my mind, although I haven yet got used to seeing the credit card that high, it's terrifying to look at
I jut have to keep telling myself that it's all worth it, that it is just advance payment of a bill and not me going wild in the aisles!!
