I've changed my mind, I'm going to spend budget money on the credit card. I want shot of the overdraft as soon as possible. It's p******g me off. If I misjudge and i didnt really need to then I can pay the credit card from the current account, but if I misjudge and I should have done but didn't then I'm stuffed.
Just to confirm, I'm not going on a wild spending spree, I'm just putting groceries/hairdressing/etc on the Barclaycard to free up the overdraft an get my current account into the black quicker.
The double bonus is that the sooner I can get rid of the overdraft, the sooner I can switch banks, I'm rather fed up with barclarse, but can't use my natwest account in case they set off against my natwest card.

Well that was an early morning epiphany. Spose I should go and put some washing on now and make a sandwich or three.....

Spent the morning so far doing housework, banking cash, organising student exams and extra aural tuition, and getting declined for a First Direct bank account. Will try FD again in six months. I do want shot of barclarse. It's not about the money any more...
Aural tuition is fun!!!! Makes a change from straight piano teaching, and it's an interesting definitive short-term-goal.

It just occurred to me that my daughter asked this morning if she could have her hair cut over half term and I said yes, for the first time as a routine yes, as hairdressing is in budget now. Weird. It's been so many years in a relationship where so many things were "no paying that for that" that my idea of how much it is ok to pay for things was seriously skewed. Genuinely had to clue about a lot of stuff until I came to these boards.
It's odd to read how many people got into debt because their exes spent all their money, but how few like me got into problems because we went a bit bonkers after getting free of an over-controlling ex who caused massive problems when any money was spent, even on a dependent child.
I've not really mentioned this before, but it's a large reason why I insist on not living on a pittance while I pay the debts off...

Interesting. I just got 2 payslips instead of one. Does that mean I get paid twice instead of once?

I agree, I am struggling with this too. It is difficult when changing habits to know what is balanced, but looking at all the different approaches on these boards, eventually i'm sure we'll come to find one which suits us fine. Keep up the great work xx.Weight 12 st 2lb - Now 11 stone 1 lb (-15 lb)

I really understand about controlling ex's and thankfully they are a part of my past, never to be revisited. I forsee the only time I ever have to clap eyes on the little worm is when one of the kids gets married. So far that appears to be years in the distance thank god!!!
He was a tight get with his money too and made me feel guilty for ever asking for any hmmm much better on my own.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Thanks Rainbow, you're definitely right about finding something that suits us, I've just about got to mine now I think, and it involves a few more takeaways and trips to the cinema than perhaps others on these forums!
