  • I'm teaching on and off throughout the day today, need to sort out some bunny stuff, and get back to all the students I cancelled yesterday, some of whom I didn't tell the whole story so ended their texts with "hope rabbit is ok". Bum.

Also need to get my act together and clean and tidy and do some lesson prep and book rooms for teaching for the next few weeks.
Mostly, marking theory. I find that relaxing. And I'm not being sarcastic, I really do!

  • This is where teenagers get REALLY expensive- my daughter missed a lot of school last year (nearly half) and is now in GCSE year, so is missing some vital schooling. She's extremely intelligent, but needs some help catching up, so I've found her (or think I've found her) a science tutor to help her plug the gaps before it spirals out of control.

  • Finding a tutor for my daughter just got interesting.... After a lot of emails back and forth (I haven't paid to release his contact details yet as I can't be bothered to get my purse out till tomorrow, but have been using the tutor website to communicate till then...) it looks like it might transpire that the tutor wants piano lessons and we can "come to an arrangement". I can't think of a better way of paying for science tutoring than with piano tutoring :)

  • I like this tutor already, he's smart. He googled me based on very limited information (the tutor website censors all personal details except first name), found me, emailed me directly, and saved me £15 contact release fees!
I like a teacher who thinks outside the box!

(actually I'd already found him too, but I didn't want to break the website contract as its him that gets consequences, not me)

Got to take the dog to the vet today, I think she's got ear mites. The owners come back tomorrow but if their plane I'd delayed they won't be able to deal with this till Friday and she's going beserk rubbing her head on the carpet.
No financial implications; not my dog, not my bill :)

  • The dog hasn'g got ear mites, but she might have an ear infection - vet has given her anti-inflammatories and antibiotics - vets said it was fine to not pay and just let the owners pick up the tab when they get back from Spain :)

Am in the process of arranging contact with tutor, and seeing whether piano lessons are a serious possibility. It sounds like they are, but I don't think he has anything to practise on yet so it could be a while before we set that up.

Rest of the day is going to be taken up with packing up the last of the eBay sales, and marking all of that theory!
    :j

Bunny number 2 is a bit subdued. Even though they were kept in separate hutches as they HATED each other, I think Bunny 2 misses the sight, sound, and smell of Bunny 1 munching away and thumping and generally being a twerp nearby :(

  • Knitting clothes for babies book has arrived from amazon. I'll be down the local knit shop tomorrow buying baby wool to start on something to sell on etsy.
And I have a bid for £5 for that map. Not bad. I wasn't entirely sure it would sell at all. 4 days to go.

And I'm organised with lesson prep for this afternoon.
    Bonus.

  • Have done some maths while waiting for student.... On a bid of 99p and postage of £2.20, once eBay and the b****y PayPal have taken their cut, I'm left with 38p.
And that doesn't include brown paper and tape.
    That's barely worth it.
I'm going to have a serious think about my eBaying. Some items I've made a loss on because of fees and fees on postage costs.

  • Dog being picked up today.... That's £60 for me and £60 for my daughter. Handy.
On the downside, I have been trying a new system or my groceries budget and have just realised I've irreversibly stuffed it up for October, utter plonker. Will keep going anyway so at least I get the hang I what I'm trying to do by November 1st!!

  • Dog has gone, we have £62.50 each, owners do happy with her care they will ask us again next time they go away :)
House seems very quiet now without that silly muppet wandering around causing trouble and stealing socks!!!!!

  • Turns out the gerbil has chewed through my bedroom curtains while she was in my room. I didn't even know she was that close, she somehow pulled them into her cage. Little b****r!
    Tbh, I couldn't really give a toss, they're only curtains ;)

I have a returning student today, she periodically goes abroad as she isn't native to Britain, she's come back and she usually has 1 hour lessons, so that's good news financially :)

Lots of teaching today, and bizarrely enough, a bicycle maintenance course funded by charity hosted at work... Free :)
