  • Lesson prep done. Just spent £22 on a second copy of harmony exercise book as I'm doing the first one myself so I know which bits are relevant, and I can't justify asking the student to buy it as I don't think half of it will get used

I may be about to see a bidding war or two this weekend: two of my items have over 15 watchers, one has 35, and they all have bids already.
    I can but hope....

  • And considering I lost money hand over fist on the postage on my first load of eBay items, I'd like to know who only gave me 4 stars for postage costs. Perhaps they'd have preferred it if their item had weighed less. Must try to achieve that next time (sarcasm card)

  • Having a bit of a financial worry here :( I'm still playing catch up from the summer holiday no-earn months, and the rabbit needs to go back to the vet as she has stopped eating again and has gone from looking better to looking utterly awful in a frighteningly short space of time.
I'm taking her in tomorrow, I really don't what can possibly be wrong as she started eating again with gusto - I was having to feed her twice a day sometimes, then she cut down and then stopped again :(:(:(
God knows where I'm going to find the money at this time of the year - I have £4000 free on the barclaycard I just cleared with the balance transfer but I don't have a working card to use to actually pay with (I had fun trying to extract the RFID chip) I've ordered a new card tonight, hopefully I should get it before too long, but I don't know how sympathetic the vets are going to be about late payements, and I'm anticipating a fair bill for this :(
    I'll cope, somehow, but I'm a bit worried :(

Had chat to the vet on way back from walking dog, broke down at state of bunny, she really did deteriorate fast :( explained I am having bad month still as didn't earn over July/August, but if it's a big bill I can pay in installments and receptionist said no problem, bring her in, can sort something out, dont worry :) I have appointment at 10.40am

I'm so angry with myself right now as when I got these bunnies I had enough savings to pay for any big vets bills, I made sure of it, and now I feel like an irresponsible pet owner :(

    P*****d off.
    Bad day

  • Natwest keep sending me texts informing me my balance is under £5. I know. It's a new account. I have no intention of it bein any higher right now.
Maybe if they gave me a fiver out of the kindness of their hearts, it would hit the £5 threshold....

  • Hope everything went okay at vets? x
  • Thank you hidden, but sadly they didn't :(
My bunny took a very serious turn for the worse as I went to get her into the pet carrier, and by the time I got her to the vets she had deteriorated so much she had to be put to sleep urgently :(
The vet said she could feel a mass in her tummy and that clipping her teeth had just provided enough respite to allow her to recover for a short time. I have photos of her from very very recently where she looks fat and happy and healthy, it's utterly terrifying how quickly she went downhill.
It's for thE best, I know, it would have been cruel nOt to have let the vet do her thing, and my bunny was on the way out by the time the vet had got everything together anyway :(:(:(
I've been upset all day, I cancelled teaching, a friend kindly took my cash to the vet to pay and has the pet carrier until I can pick it up from him again.
And he's coming round tonight to watch WallE with his dog and my borrowed dog, which is just what I need, happy animal faces.

I have to clean the hutch out tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to that :(

Tomorrow will be a better day.

Even more sadly, I'm anticipiating this another two times in a short space of time as my dear bunny's sister is also 7.5 years old and my daughter's gerbil is 2.
This is the foul underbelly of pet ownership, and I deeply deeply dislike it

  • So sorry to hear about your poor bunny. It's very hard when they get to the end but you did your absolute best for her and gave her a lovely life.

    Take care

RIP bunny, you did the best you could for her, and I'll bet she had a very happy life with you and DD x

Hope the vet's bill won't be too horrendous.......
  • Thank you fortune and kittikins, I appreciate your kindness :)
I think the fact that breakfast today was black coffee and paracetamol speaks volumes about how I spent last night!! ;)
Actually I had rather a good time, friend turned up with dog, our two dogs sort of got on, (his is absolutely massive so mine felt threatened most of of the time but she did settle, and he really is a gentle giant), and we watched WallE and chatted over a bottle of wine (him), a four pack of beer (me), and a 4 pack of j2o (daughter). The company was good, the beer was good, and it stopped me wallowing which is even better :)

Vets bill was £126. I paid for individual cremation.
