Well, you do get to sleep for a bit in the middle. I think there will be some time out 6am-12 on Sunday morning. And you would survive it fine, I'm sure - the pace is what you set yourself. Besides the ceremony is at 4pm, with the wedding at 6, so we're starting later than you would with a wedding breakfast.

sounds fab ,making it into a whole weekend

id need a week to recover me thinks :rotfl:

Similar question here - I'm getting married at the end of May, the package from the hotel includes a welcome drink, glass of wine with the meal and sparkling wine for the toast. The hotel are strongly suggesting 2 or 3 bottles of wine per table (10 or 11) would be appropriate during the meal. At 11 quid a pop, I'm wrestling with my conscience here.... There's a cash bar open. Is it being tight to say if the guests want more than a glass of wine they should pay for it themselves?
    Thanks

I don’t think its at all tight. Im only paying for the 3 drinks too. Your paying for them to eat already. Weddings cost a lot of money and people appreciate that so I don’t think everyone comes to a wedding expecting to get drinks bought for them all day.

IMO ,no not at all tight and thats the "norm" where i am from / live :)

ive never been to a wedding whereby all drinks are free!! its only ever been like you are providing - welcome drink on arrival, glass of wine with meal, then a toasting drink :)

Good on you shirlyn. When you say that in your culture the bride, goom and there family always pay for the food and drinks for the night. What culture are you referring too?

I'm white, British, from Essex with East London roots and that is the same in my 'culture'. I don't know where all these other 'tight' people live.

The way I see it s that you ask people to come to your wedding because you want them to share in your special day. You expect them to look tidy and sometimes travel from a long way, some may need hotels to stay overnight, some may need babysitters, taxis and not fogetting the gift that they will buy you. All expense that they are paying in order to share in your big day. For all of this effort I have no problem buying them drinks/food all day/night. You know who the liberty takers are, so don't invite them . The trouble is so many people put on these big fancy weddings that cost a fortune and then become miserly over the drinks. (And from what I've experienced the showiest weddings of all have never lasted.)

Anyway sorry I can't help with your 'how much drink question'. However, I will tell you what I did....

Borrowed a van and went on a booze cruise to France. Ordered way more than I knew I would need but seeing as it was so cheap it wasn't a problem even after paying corkage. That was 8 years ago and this Christmas I opened the last bottle of Champagne that was left over from the reception!

All the best on the big day shirlyn. I wish I was coming, it sounds like a PROPER wedding.

    That's right Rachie B.

Imagine if you had two equally good friends that were getting married on the same day. Everything about them and their wedding was identical but one had the free bar all day and night. You can only go to one as they are too far apart to attend both...which one would you go to?

Imagine if you had the same weddings but this time a week apart with the same set of guests going to the same venue etc but one of the receptions was free. Which one do you think the guests would most enjoy?

All I am saying is that I would like my guests to have a great time, good food and drink to help me celebrate my big day.

Unfortunately I had the misfortune to be invited to a wedding where no free drinks were provided, and I've never been to such a depressing affair. Most people were tactically drinking to avoid getting the big round of drinks. It's not what I am used to at all. I suppose that's the key. It's what I am used to. All my good friends and family are very generous and so we are happy to give and receive in equal measures.

I've got two wedding this year. And guess what, oh yes, it's free food and booze all day.

Anyway, enough of that as it's not helping answer the original question.

All I know is after I spent £1200 on a dress, without extras like shoes, petticoats or veils, it really is not too much to go that little bit further with the alcohol. If you're buying your own it will not cost as much as putting money behind a bar.

Unless of course you're trying to have a moneysaving wedding.

I wonder what MrX's real username is. Quite a coincidence that he has just registered and comes across this thread straight away.

If people can afford to by booze for people all night and they want to do it then thats fine, but suggesting that a wedding is only "proper" if you pay for it is just plain stupid. Personally I want my wedding to be something a bit more than an excuse for free bar.

    Help

Now back to the OP, is it just wine your thinking of getting or is it beers and spirits etc too?

    :)

Not Camera .. Cameras - at least two, both as good as each other.

You wouldn't drive around with a flat & bald spare wheel would you?

Another good tip is to ask the venue manager who they recommend, they see plenty of photographers in action, listen to their advice.
