Rachie_B wrote:murtle if you mean me i actually said they originated in italy but they are a very americanised thing too ,ie they are or appear to be a lot more popular over there
Oh no Rachie, not youI just kept reading American, consumerism etc I researched it greatly before I got married, just to see why I was doing it!! Actually found it very interesting, and I ate most of the sweets I used on the morning of my wedding....in fact I can still remember me sitting there putting the damn things together whilst being hassled to get showered and dressed :rotfl: it was a sign of things to come

VickyA wrote:We definitely would not have been able to afford this sort of wedding by ourselves. Unfortunately, my dad is now of the opinion that if he's paying then he can invite who he likes to it. This is really upsetting me as most of the people I wouldn't have invited myself. I tried to put my point of view across to my dad the other day, but he didn't see why I was getting upset. I know it's very generous of him to pay, but it's just not my wedding any more!
Sorry, I know I should be grateful, but I'm so stressed and upset that it's no good! OH and I joked about going to Las Vegas - now it just seems like a very good idea!
It's just like reading my own words! Except it's my Mother running the show. I don't know some of the guests and I had no input on the menu, cake or the whole wedding order - although most of this was already dreamed up by the venue's chef, and Mother just agreed.
Being grateful? I am so past that phase. I am at a point where I don't want to turn up to the whole thing - just to show Mother, who had told me, in these exact words, that the wedding has nothing to do with me.
Sorry to rant, I am just so angry and disappointed. Being a bride to be, thanks to my family is nothing like I thought it would be - my special day, my a*se.
And as it is turning out I am spending more money on it than she is.
Total £6000, but going a long way as we're doing it abroad.:wall:0
