  • "Make it personal Rather than your guests just writing down their name, address, and a short "Congratulations", ask them to write their favorite memory of you, advice for a happy marriage, or even use your invitations to ask guests to bring a special photograph or other token to include in your book."

What a brilliant idea! I have just thanked you cause Im gonna do this at my wedding now :-)

It's nice isn't it? I want to do all these things. (I fear my guest book is going to be the size of the Yellow Pages!)

I liked the polariod idea for ours, but as my OH pointed out - we're so fussy about our pics that we'd use a whole roll of film before we found one we'd allow through quality control! If everyone else was like that it could turn into more of a problem than a solution :o Just a thought.

  • Another Idea for Favour Sweets.

We bought Big packs of sweets from local Stores like Tictacs, Packs of Wethers etc etc and split them all into little favour bags.. put so many of each in 1 bag.. I couldnt be doing with ordering from expensive places like confetti..

Your best going to Poundshops for big bags of sweets & supermarkets..

    and also....

Little favour scrolls... We done these for the big day.....

Here's some of the Planning I did and the DIY bridal things..

I decorated this basket up with pretty schtuff! and got wooden roses (Scented) for guests who attended..

Oh and also, If your having a winterWedding and Your dress gets a little mucky with mud and dirt, Babywipes remove it. My Aunt used to work in Beatties and she said that was what they used to remove marks from the dresses when they'd been tried on. She & My mom cleaned my dress after the big day, as We had slight dusting of snow and me dress got a lil mucky at the bottom as folk had trodden on it..:naughty:

Also I invested in some slippers(Red slip on's) which matched me dress which only cost me 19p lol from Bodycare, as I didnt wanna wear peep-toe shoe heels for like the whole day and walk around barefooted...

Thanks bigzippy...but that makes me think...it would be great to find how to actually get the messages/pics put onto tea towels...I'm trying hard for my wedding not to end up with stuff that I know will get put away and rarely looked at again (which I fear about a guestbook). The idea of a set of silly tea towels from my wedding seems fab to me, something to make me smile when I'm drying the dishes in 5 years time...I'll look into it and post any info I find...

    Oooo here's a possibility http://www.allmyownwork.co.uk/index.html
You can get a minimum order of one tea towel by the looks of it...

What about those sheets that you can run through the printer and then iron onto tshirts? or just like the tshirt pens? That must be more cost effective? some plain tea towels and a bunch of fabric pens??

  • bigzippy I can reccomend a dressmaker!

When I got married in 2002 Stella made my dress, her shop is all over the place and she can be a bit grumpy some days but she's a superstar and her dresses are amazing, she'll fit in with whatever price bracket you're thinking.

I thought she might have retired but found this in the net so looks like she's still there http://www.stellasweddingdresses.com/www.stellasweddingdresses.coms/contact.php

  • Re: the guest book idea, we got a big ceramic plate (and bowl) and bought some pens that write on ceramic off the internet and everyone signed/wrote messages on this. Unfortunately it somehow got left at the reception so am waiting for my mum to go pick it up still but it looked good what I saw of it on the night!
