I am not sure how helpful this will be but if you live near Milton Keynes, Bedford or Northampton, there is a dress shop called Alexander John in a village called Harrold. They are closing on Saturday and I just bought my dress there on an impulse! Not getting married for over a year! It was originally priced at £1300 and I paid £150. Also bought a tiara half price. Checked on the designers website and it is this season and the original price was real. They have veils, tiaras, bridesmaid dresses.

I designed a card in photoshop - a photo I took on holiday in Jamaica - overlaid with the wedding date, saved as a jpeg file. Then uploaded to https://www.snapfish.co.uk/screen, where you can get 40 free prints and then got 40 copies. Only had to pay 99p P & P. Wrote on the back and stuck in an envelope.

Don't put your wedding list with Debenhams as the system really p's me off. I thought it was a matter of going to the wedding point, selecting gift, paying and then the goods would be collated by store and delivered to B&G after wedding. Wrong, you print out list, walk around the shop to find the item, take them to the till to pay for them and unless you want to pay £3.50 delivery and £3.50 wrapping you take them home with you and DIY!!

Re table centre pieces my neice bought a load of glass vases from Ikea. She wrapped gold ribbon around them and is putting a single flower in each one. Very effective.

Or do your list with Debenhams to get the free £50, then direct guests to another list elsewhere ;)

For table centres, I bought tall elegant candlesticks and dinner candles. I had groups of 3 with slightly differing heights. They looked really nice, provided height, but people could still see round them to talk. I then scattered the rest of the table centre with foil confetti. A little goes a long way so it didn't cost much.

After the wedding, I gave the sets of candlesticks away to certain guests.
Here I go again on my own....

I did think if you didn't even have to be getting married to set up a list. Just pretend you are and give your maiden name etc get the £50. If you were going to be buying there anyway you could add those items to your list and buy them yourself:D

    The sales have started (almost!)

BHS are selling their wedding stuff off, so there is 20-50% off most of it. But when it's gone, it's gone.
Debenhams sale is starting next week, 4 of the most popular dresses won't be reduced, but apparently the rest will...

Also, try TK Maxx for dresses, my mum picked up a really lovely dress she thought I'd like for only £20. It is lovely, but I'm not sure it's the one for me, but we might keep it as a back up, incase I spill soup on mine!
It's similar to dresses that are elsewhere £200 - £2000. A white bodice with 3 beaded panels and semi full skirt. Bargain! I'll certainly be looking to see if they have anything else that is more my style.

I really wouldn't recommend BHS. It took me 5 months to get my bridesmaid dress's from BHS and in the end my Mum flew to Liverpool to get them as my local store Portsmouth were messing us around so much. Currently seeking compensation from BHS for the stress and hassle.....not banking on anything just wanted to make a point!!!

As for table dec's, I brought my vases, candles and pebbles from Tesco and it cost me £5.50 per table - Bargin :T

for centerpieces, how about a nice pot holder with real plants/flowers inside.
If I were getting married now I'd have pots of lavender. They look and smell so nice.
Ikea have nice pot holders for a pound. Even if you didn't grow the plants yourself, they'd still be cheap.

I really fancied pots of pansies (which would be really cheap) and having little strings of battery powered fairly lights wrapped around the pot. however, since it's not fairly light season, I'll probably have to wait till christmas to get some - but last year they had them in my local pound shop.

    Hello,

I popped into my local Pound Shop (I'm in Milton Keynes, so it was actually Poundland in Bletchley) and they had the single use cameras with flash (so suitable to use indoors) - thought this might be useful to someone!

I'm getting married in November 2007 when i tried to book the registrar for the civil ceremony i was told i can't book it till 12 months before the exact date.

I've also been to IKEA for the table decorations. There's a sale on at the moment. Managed to get: tall glass vases for 50p each, tealights in frosted coloured holders 50p for a pack of 4, dried flowers, one of the flowers has a centre which looks like a heart! 75p each, Silk flower petals £1.49 for a box (not as much of a bargain but like them). Also cards 75p for a pack of 5 which i'm going to add a few finishing touches and use as invitations

If you live near Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow pay Country Baskets a visit. I've not been yet, it is a wholesalers and you need a card but i've been told that everything there is really cheap
