Internet shopping is diminishing all this stuff.
I have to say, some people appear to be over reacting about this. It is someone's livelihood, and they are trying. If you read some of the posts from folk really struggling, you would know that they don't leave catalougues just to get up your nose.
Some of us are very lucky not to have to go door to door. Count your blessings.0 -

If I have a sticker on my door which clearly indicates I want no catalogues and that they will not be returned if they are posted through my letterbox, I can only conclude that they are trying to get up my nose if they still decide to deliver me one!
Admittedly, many door-to-door sales people are struggling to make a living and we, the occupiers of properties, have to put up with their lies on our doorsteps.
Energy door-to-door selling is now practically outlawed and energy companies have been fined millions of pounds for the tactics of their sales staff. But we, the consumers, really end up paying those fines in higher energy bills.
I find it far more annoying (and potentially more dangerous) dealing with unwanted doorstep callers than with unwanted phone callers. Yet, I can opt out of marketing phone calls via TPS but there is no way to opt out of receiving unsolicited marketing visits to my home, that is, in any way, legally enforceable.
If I want to stop Royal Mail delivering unstamped advertising material in my letterbox I have to write to them and they will cease but will commence again two years later unless I make another written request. My registration with TPS to opt of marketing phone calls lasts indefinitely.
It is time that legal recognition should be given to door signs put up by house occupiers. There is no clearer method to indicate your disinterest, than putting a sign on your door.0 -
Regardless of whether they have to make a living or supplement there living, many of us dont want to be disturbed, some people work at home and obviously dont want this too
People should respect others wishes and if they put a notice up saying no catalogues or cold calls it means just that, that isnt difficult to comprehend to those delivering or calling surely
Personally I think we should ban cold calls or any kind it was never a problem years ago its got worse as has pestering on people on landline/mobiles which I personnel dealt with at my expenseInternet shopping is diminishing all this stuff.

Its very easy to deal with cold calls either dont answer the door or say no thank you before they utter a word, you can usually tell who they are. I know they should respect peoples right to privacy but many don't and they just ignore the notices people put up. As far as I am concerned they already got my back up. As for leaflets/catalogues they all go in my recycle bin where they belong, so no need to leave a soggy wet catalogue like I use to in the hope they come back which often they dont. I just bin them now if any come which thankfully hasn't been for along while0

One reason we should ban cold calling is that there is a substantial section of the population who work nights.
"Hey Doc, Why are you looking so knackered?"
"I got woken up 3 times today, even though I put a sign up..."The man without a signature.0 -
I have had a very apologetic letter from Kleeneze. They say that the problem is unlikely to occur again.
One interesting point is that Kleeneze 'agents' are NOT assigned territories, meaning that any number of Kleeneze 'agents' can visit the same household. No wonder these 'agents' keep posting items through my letterbox!0
