Kleeneze Agents Ignore Door Signs Again!

  • Hello there. I'm a Kleeneze distributor and i can understand how it can be a bit annoying to keep getting a catalogue through your door if you didn't ask for it in the first place.

This is however how we go and look for customers. If you prefer not to receive a catalogue, all we ask for is a little note on the catalogue bag or inside where it's visible on collection stating that you don't want one again. If you don't want to use your own paper, just write on the back of the slip that tells you when they are collecting it back.

Just doing this will help us a lot for a number of reasons.
    1. We don't want to upset anyone and that way everything stays friendly.
    2. One of the reasons there is such a churn of distributors is the fact that so many people just bin the catalogues which a lot of new distributors cannot always afford to replace and then quit. Then a few days or weeks later, a new distributor turns up.

You're bound to get a catalogue from a few different distributors, but just leave them the note, and that way you shouldn't get another catalogue from that distributor.

That is a lot less effort than what some people go through, as mentioned in previous responses.

Kleeneze works under guidelines from the Direct Selling Association and we're endorsed by the OFT. We are an equal opportunity company and therefore if anybody wants to earn a living with us, we help them get started. This means that sometimes you will get a catalogue from a distributor who's English might not be the best. Please just be patient with them and again, just leave a clear note. Everybody should understand what "Please do not leave another catalogue. Thank you." means.

I hope you understand where i'm coming from and hope some of you take this on board as a friendly bit of information.

Have a fabulous day all. :)
  • Legality wise, this has yet to be tested and most local Trading Standards' sites do say that cold calling (even in No Cold Calling Zones) is not illegal.

The advice from the Trading Standards Institute may take some time to filter down to the various Trading Standards departments.
Even Martin says that this is untested in law and just relies on the advice of one QC.

That is true, of course, but it was persuasive enough for the Trading Standards Institute to agree to MSE's new cold callers sticker; that sticker clearly indicates it IS a criminal offence.
I don't know about anyone else but I don't want the justice system clogged any more than it is already - and certainly not with Kleeneze agents whose only offence is to drop a catalogue through your door!

On this occasion, this Kleeneze agent was also making unsubstantiated claims on potential earnings. Kleeneze's head of marketing actually agreed with me on this.
Lots of us have reasons not to want to be disturbed - illness, baby, shift working or whatever. Just do what most of us do... don't answer the door unless you are expecting someone. Then, look out of the window to see who it is... if it's postie or courier, then answer - otherwise, just ignore them and carry on regardless.

Being disabled it is not really convenient to do this.
You seem to be taking these calls as a personal attack - they are not - you are one of many to these merchants and, in the great scheme of things, there are worse things to worry about in this world.

One reason that I do not like cold callers is because of at least three incidents (at my current address) when I felt my personal safety was in danger. One incident resulted in one man being sent to prison for three years. In another incident I found out that many family members of a cold caller at my door were sent to prison for up to 7 years, for intimidating sales tactics.

I think you may have missed the point! I have a sign on my letterbox which reads NO COMMERCIAL LEAFLETS. I have a sign on my door that reads: UNSOLICITED CATALOGUES WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

Kleeneze agents still ignore those signs and put catalogues through my door anyway and still expect return of their catalogues! (which they never get returned) Some Kleeneze agents don't learn and even put catalogues through my door for a second time!
  • Thanks for taking time to reply Paul.

My reply was mostly intended for the other people who commented that they just bin the catalogue instead of telling the distributor they don't want one again.
  • You absolutely can't afford an interruption by a Kleeneze agent during your working day (a knock at the door which can easily be ignored), but you are allowed to take time out to post about it on the internet though...

That is an especially silly remark as you have no idea of when I am working.

... and nor does the Kleeneze man.
    :hello:
  • We live in a town of about 15k people in a seemingly prime estate for bag deliveries, before I put the junk/cold callers sign up it felt like I could fill one of the bags with other unwanted "charity" bags during a month.
This means that sometimes you will get a catalogue from a distributor who's English might not be the best.

Funnily enough I happened to be by the door when one of the bags came through the other day. I approached the guy handing his bag back and politely saying we didn't need one - English was clearly not his first language and I would have felt a right p***k if I'd shouted at him.

Maybe you could remove your recruiting advert via signature as its against the rules to ask people to Pm via signature or via a post. Thanks

As for catalogue mine always goes in the bin admittedly haven't had one for years now but I use to get them regularly as clock work and agents never use to come back I guess they got fed up of the lies and get rich schemes that some people higher up the chain do to get commission on agents hard work. All junk mail whether it's from Royal Mail, takeaways and catalogues go straight in recycle bin where they belong I dont even bother to waste my time reading it :D

All charities get our caste off's directly and not to some 3rd party who pays peanuts (that's assuming they do pay) to a charity

  • Trouble is it may only work for one agent and not all agents dont keep to one area so you can have several in our area. Kleeneze however dint keep a register of people who dont want custom, but then when has Kleeneze been ethical it rips off many of its agents by lying on how much you can make, it rips off its customers with over priced tat.
