OP's phone lost/stolen, phone gets blocked and insurance pays out
Phone gets found/recovered returned to OP
Only person who can get it unblocked is the owner (OP) which of course flags up the phone as back in circulation and the underwriters want the phone or their money back.
OP meanwhile gives/sells the phone then gets hit with the £200 bill they didn't realise would be liable for.
The only thing correct is that the phone was stolen, but it wasn't found. All the rest is simply not true.0 -
I'm still confused... The network would have only established that the handset had been "found" in the event it was sold and a check was done on the IMEI to ensure it was not stolen. It's rediculous to think someone actually rang your network to state the phone is found... Especially if it was the thief... Which leads me to my other issue.
You keep saying it was stolen by a thief yet give no further information on what actually happened. A thief is quite a vague picture to paint... Was this stolen with other belongings? We're you burgled? What did the police say regarding the theft? These are all bits of information we would need to really assess what has happened.
If the phone was sold the seller quite often gives a copy of their ID in the event the phone ends up as stolen... Could this have been the case?
The wording is very peculiar in this post and if this is the wording you've used with your network I can see why you've had issues with them.0 -
No, I'm not working at the police. It was stolen by a thief, not a friend, not a relative, not an ex-boyfriend.
Anyway I think it was Mr Plumb, in the Library with the CandlestickIt's not just about the money0 -
Perhaps people are reading too much into his posts. People sometimes word things in a slightly unusual way without it necessarily meaning anything.
If the OP is telling the truth, the phone was stolen (it doesn't matter whether it was a burglary, mugging or pickpocket) and presumably reported to the police.
Perhaps the thief (or a fence or someone who bought the phone off them) tried to get it unblocked?
Perhaps the network made a mistake and got his phone mixed up with another phone that has returned to circulation? Why assume that the network is always infallible?
Normally one gives advice on the basis of what the OP is saying (after getting further clarification from him on anything that is unclear or ambiguous).0 -
