help to get meat is murder by the smiths into the charts

Options
hi,

this may not be the right place but...

at my local veggie cafe (cafe pulse in southend) they had lots of leaflets campaigning to get 'meat is murder' by the smiths back into the charts.

Somebody has set up a website (https://www.freewebs.com/meatisstillmurder/index.htm)
which explains that if enough people download the song from one of the sources that count towards the charts (links on the site), it will go back into the charts. Apparantly the song was one of the main reasons that chrissie hynde became a veggie. (lyrics on the site)

if there any veggies\vegans (esp from essex) out there, would love to hear from you

great idea - going veggie or vegan is the biggest thing you can do to be green - according to the major organisations
as your in essex search for the essex vegans as I know they are very active

even if you not veggie - by not using leather it makes a big difference
check out this MSE post for discounts on veggie vegan shoes

A veggie who eats dairy products is still contributing to fluffy little animals being killed - beef is a byproduct of the dairy industry.

Hmmm, The Smiths? Lead singer Morrissey?

Didn't his first solo album, "Viva Hate", include a track entitled "Margaret on the Guillotine".

Now I don't care what your politics are, but when you're in the public eye and a potential role model for millions, you don't release singles that depict your country's PM being beheaded.

And don't even get me started on "Girlfriend In A Coma" or "Kill Uncle".

The man's got a couple of kangaroos loose in the top paddock.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

I love The Smiths and Morrisey, some of the best lines from any songs during the past twenty years have come from his lips.

What on earth would getting this song into the charts achieve, whilst I respect you view not to eat meat its all a bit pointless, respect the views of those of us who like to eat meat, stick to your views but don't seek to change minds with a pop song.

If this post has done anything it has made me decide to pop out to the farm shop and buy some nice big steaks for tea and some ribs to bbq later this week.

Pat yourself on the back, your post has ensured that a pig and a cow have expired to help feed my family this week.

Whilst I respect your choice to eat meat I wonder why you felt you had to post the above.
I assume Jimbob posted what he did just in case anyone was interested in doing this. I saw nothing offensive aimed at meat-eaters in his post, whereas in yours I'd like to question why you felt the need to add remarks which a veggie/vegan may find offensive???

I suppose a song title that implies meat eaters are murderers isn't offensive !

    Strange logic ?

great idea get on old crap 80's song into the charts again and maybe even number 1 and it will make everyone think and convert to veggie-ism.
Whats the point if the last time it was out it only converted chrissie hynde?

If you are a Vegan and you own a dog or a cat, what do you feed it ?

Since they are omnivores along with pigs, birds and many primates do you force them to eat vegan animal food, when they naturally have meat in their diet ?

    Just wondered, no offence intended.

I have cats they aren't omnivores they are carnivores and need to eat meat to survive so I have no choice but to supply it. Some vegans will choose to feed their cats on vegan foods with synthetic taurine but IMHO there hasn't been enough data collected on the long term effects of a synthetic diet for cats therefore am not prepared to take the risk. No offence taken.
