  • Another quick post! I've just read back (properly) through the posts and 'well done' to Dusty's DS! That is brilliant!!

And well done to Ionafan on the Ebay listings. Confession time! I am a virgin! (an Ebay listings virgin that is!!) I've bought quite a lot but never sold, but, that is my aim for this autumn, like Pigpen (sorry, Fido) get rid of some quality merchandise. (Pigpen, your post is still making me laugh, Fido indeed!!!) x

Turns out normal is 12; they start to worry if it drops to 10; and mine came in at 7.9 :eek::eek: according to google anything under 8 is potentially life-threatening. It can't be that bad though as I wasn't whipped in for a blood transfusion :D just given iron tablets & go back in a month, if levels aren't rising pathological explorations will begin :eek::eek::eek:

7-10 is low but ok.. below 7 they usually start wanting you to have transfusions but they don't usually do it until about 4 or 5.
I was flitting about as normal on 5.1 so 7.9 isn't 'that' bad.. but means your little red cells are working super hard and your non-vital organs are getting slightly less o2 than usual.. it isn't the actual Hb they should be worried about you can't really change that without a transfusion it is the iron stores which are used to create new red cells they need to look at really.. ask what those levels are.. ;) I am always anaemic and nothing makes any difference... about 9 is my usual level.. I refuse to have more blood counts done as I cannot be faffed with the hassle I get.

Iron tablets take at least 6 weeks to make any difference at all so checking before then is a waste of time.. ask for the iron injections they are better and work quicker and don't usually have the horrible side effects of the tablets ;)
Stockport treating you well as usual?

but of course.. how did you guess?

  • Morning all

Thanks for the well wishes I feel better today - had a massive migraine later on it the day, went to bed a couple of times, slept on the sofa last night. I got up at 7 this morning and started the ironing, the back log is now clearede and I'm doing lots of weashing today, I've decluttered DD to her Nana and DS is on the Wii so all is good here.

Roundtuit - glad they have found something, hope the iron works soon
    Rowan - thanks hun x

Congrats and get wells etc where needed, sorry but I've not taken in whats going on even though I've read it all :[[

Oh I do feel better today lol, even feel like doing some cleaning inbetween all the washing and drying [well maybe]. If I have too much sleep it makes me groggy which was why I set the alarm for 7 this morning - 6-7 hours sleep is fine for me - getting older and needing less slee - I used to be not able to function unless I had 8-9 hours sleep!!

An update from me. I have done:

Gym - 10 mins on the bike, also tidied in there and found storage for DSs bedding as this is where he sleeps when he's home for college.
Eat - am now eating again, a banana for slow release energy for more flying
Bath (or shower if the boiler is being bad) - lovely bath, boiler is ok thank goodness
Walk dogs - first walk of day done
Wash up (one side has completely disappeared in the kitchen as I couldn't be bothered last night) - done, lots of changes of water needed
Vacuum/sweep right through the house - done, also quick tidy in rooms where necessary, well I haven't been doing proper flying for a couple of weeks

    Still to do:
Cut grass back and front, and a little bit of weeding if the mood takes me
    Phone call
    On-line couple of bits
Wrap up parcel ready for posting

I agree with all previous posts that flying does work. Even after two weeks off the paid stuff not flying properly, the house is at a stage where I'd be quite happy to have unexpected visitors. Not that I ever get any, I had 13 months between last two visitors, no-one since July.

    Hi all

A quite day today in moo-land, if you don't count pushing and biting. Urgh. Toddlers!. Now have them in separate rooms, so peace is regained.

Roundtuit, glad you've got to the bottom of it. When I was pregnant with my youngest I had low iron stores, and the doc suggested spatone which is a liquid iron supplement and much gentler on my sicky tummy, as I, erm, wasn't getting the best out of the tablets IYKWIM. I did start to feel better after a month. They said it was probs cos I had my two close together, although they weren't very close (19 mths).

Not much flying, laundry sorted, MIL has offered to do my ironing :A and there are toys everywhere but I can live with that...

Will go destink little moo then make a start on dinner

Everything I planned to do today is done. Just have to walk the dogs again later when its cooler and may also spend some more time in the gym/go for a bike ride. Will make a pud while roasties are cooking later with some rhubarb from the garden. Am going to sit in the garden now and make my nails look nice again after all the gardening this week as its back to the paid stuff tomorrow.

    Hi Ladies

Havent been in for a couple of days but I have been doing bits n pieces mostly flinging stuff from our room that should have been done years ago, although Friday I confess I did nothing after work as I hurt my back and had been getting sharp pains so need to keep an eye on that.

Big hugs to those who need them

    Morning flyladies

In my last post (Weds) I mentioned that I was having a blood test on Thursday to rule out thyroid/diabetes as the cause of my peri-menopausal symptoms....oooer  gave said blood and was summoned back to the surgery pronto as my blood count is 'alarmingly low', 'worryingly so'.:eek: not really the sort of phone call you want to receive in a lay-by on a busy road as you are driving into work next day....I'd switched my phone off when I went into the doctor's surgery and forgot to switch it back on after I left :o ooops

Turns out normal is 12; they start to worry if it drops to 10; and mine came in at 7.9 :eek::eek: according to google anything under 8 is potentially life-threatening. It can't be that bad though as I wasn't whipped in for a blood transfusion :D just given iron tablets & go back in a month, if levels aren't rising pathological explorations will begin :eek::eek::eek: (As i thought you had to be dead to have anything 'pathological' done I went very quiet at that stage....wrong :) you can still be alive...phew!!!)

So it's not BD, and it's not peri-meno, it's 'I'm running on fumes'...doc was surprised I was walking about he said :A

So I reckon that once this is sorted I'll get my GUAG back and I'll be ABLE TO FLY woop woop. I'm not a lazy fat moo, I'm a poorly fat moo. For months life has been all work/sleep/eat/work etc while the house degenerated around me, and despite every good intention it's just got worser and worser, as I simply haven't had the energy to do anything :(

I am sooo relieved at getting a diagnosis which is put rightable and I'm going to get my life back woop woop :T:T

Round tuit - Re the above I agree with piggers, Ive been down to 7.1 before and at that level it isnt life threatening but does need sorting. Episodes of palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath are not uncommon. See how you get on with the tablets, they do have an effect on the stomach and if they upset you try a different sort, they can make you 'go' one way or the other! Over the years I have tried several types but never got on with any so my consultant keeps an eye on my levels and when they get to around 10 he has me go in as a day patient a couple of times a week for a couple of weeks and I have infusions straight into the vein. Thankfully they dont do the injections around here anymore as they are soooo painful (more so than the B12 injections I have to have every 12 weeks as well!) and I have NO side effects from the infusions and I actually get to sit down and do nothign while it drips through :D. Hopefully the tablets will sort you out over a period of time but if they come down again I would suggest that you ask your Gp to look for the cause. It could just be diet with not enough going in, it could be malabsorbtion problems or it could be something as simple as heavy periods, but whichever that needs treating otherwise you continue to firefight the iron deficiency. I tried Spatone as well but found that the amount I needed would work out expensive each month and didnt really make a difference. Always remember to take iron tabs with Vit C as it aids absorbtion, tea does the opposite!

Oh and if you are woking you can ask your GP to sign you off if your HB goes below 10, I've had 8 and 10 week spells off work previously, and that isnt a comment about skiving, your body really needs it.

Anyway I better go get the washing in and gulps - I might even wash my car!
