quoia wrote:If you have a Digibox then you have access to loads of radio stations and they are all broadcast in a digital format. Indeed because of bandwidth restrictions with the genuine DAB service, if you are at home and want to listen to digital radio, then the "Sky service" actually offers better quality.
I mainly listen to DAB in bed, and mainly listen to those oldie or sport channels that are only on the AM (MW) band on a normal radio, so I get much better quality without the fading in and out you normally get. So for me portable is much better than the Sky or Freeview digital radio stations.0 -
Index in Exeter have got the Pure DAB Bug for £83 (down form £149) - I'm waiting to see if they reduce them further, they have already reduced them twice!
they also have got a Goodmans System 1/2 price too, cant remember what it is called or the price!0 -
I've just bought the Pure Elan DX20 from Woolies in Grantham, for £59.99. They are stating on the website that its RRP is £119.99, so a £60 saving. I took this with a pinch of salt though, cos it's in Currys for £79.99 - but in any case, it makes the Woolies price a good one.

Overall, a really good little radio, and it's portable too - they reckon in the manual that it'll last 8 hours on a set of batteries. Is it me?!0 -

Yesterday I finally succumbed to a DAB after considering one for about 6 months. Richer Sounds have the Sharp FV-DB1E at £50 off at the moment (while stocks last) which brings it in at £59.99 or £69.99 - the cheaper ones are factory reboxed ones, which have been returned by consumers unable to receive DAB. Both prices have the Richer Sounds 1 year guarantee. I had been looking for one which was battery and mains powered (because of battery drain), worked as a clock radio (my current one in the bedroom is c**p), and could be connected to the main stereo system. I have listened to digital radio through my NTL box, but is only any good when no one is watching the TV, it's not portable and has limited channels. I also listen to digital radio on the PC, but have the same problem, can't use the internet while listening to it etc. I am chuffed to bits with the Sharp so far and it's a nice neat looking piece too. I also have a 14 day cool off period in case I am disappointed with it! Bravo!0

Good site for digital radio reviews/info is https://www.ukdigitalradio.com run by the commercial digital radio stations. Will also send you a buyers guide to digital radio.
