Might have had an engine swap, the original 1.6 engine giving up the ghost and got replaced on the cheap with a 1.4 engine?

    How old is the vehicle?

    Hi its 7 years old.

Then everything is fine, it cannot possibly affect your insurance. You can put a badge on it saying it's a V8 5 litre twin-turbo GTI if you so wish!

Yeah sure I could do that but I wouldn't risk making my car look tacky.

Insurance companies do whatever they can to refuse pay out, I'd put the correct badge on if it was my car. Can also cause confusion at MOT time.
  • check the engine code on the engine block, it will read something like x14xev for a 1.4 or something like that, or have 16 in it if it is a 1.6

I'd forgotten about barryboys. I was often on there for a look at some of the states going about. It makes you wonder what's in some people's heads. :rotfl:

Are those the equivalent of bike stabilisers, to stop it tipping over when going round corners ?
