Car is a 1.4 but says 1.6 on the boot

I bought a car from motornation a few months ago. Noticed there was no vauxhall badge on the back but they said it was probably because when the car was made and the first person bought it from the dealership they would have preferred it to have no badge as a cosmetic thing
Can't understand why its only now that I have noticed the car says 1.6 on the back?!! Yet its a 1.4.
I have always thought it might have been in an accident but motornation assured me they had checked.
Can anyone tell me how I check if its been in an accident? Thanks.

Take it to any body shop and they will tell you instantly. Not sure if they will charge you though.0

Is there a website you can check it on?0

Get it checked, but it could be something minor. The previous owner may have backed into a pole and purchased a new boot from a scrapyard. Not all dents mean major damage, but they may have replaced it to have a nice looking car.0

Two options:
1. Its been in an accident... if they say they have had it checked and it hasn't been, ask them for the proof.
2. It could have been owned by a boy racer who debadged it and wanted to make it look like a better car than it was, hence the 1.6 badge when its only a 1.4...
Has it also got body kit / blacked out windows / lowered suspension / big bore exhausts or the like?
I'm guessing it is a Corsa or Astra?A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

It could be the previous owner who changed the badge but I would have expected Motor Nation to have checked the car before it went on sale and that included making sure that the displayed engine capacity information is correct.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

You may also find that having a 1.6 badge could cause insurance problems too.0

Thanks everyone. Don't think it was owned by a boy racer. Its a turquoise meriva so it looks like a mummies family car. No body kit or extras on it. I've sent an email to the manager of motornation so will see what he has to say too.0

Did a check on what car? website and its not been written off. I take it this means its not been in an accident? Or doesn't it? Hope motornation can answer my questions tomorrow. They've done enough messing me about since january. :mad:0

I think a HPI check or similar would only show major accidents... doesn't mean it hasn't been in a small bump.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
