Car is a 1.4 but says 1.6 on the boot

Might have had an engine swap, the original 1.6 engine giving up the ghost and got replaced on the cheap with a 1.4 engine?
How old is the vehicle?0 -
What engine does the V5C say it has?0

It's probably a mistake made by a trainee body shop worker. Their boss probably said, "Go put a badge on that Meriva mate" and he picked up the wrong one.
Can you get a 1.6 Meriva ?0 -
I remember seeing a Focus, and on the back, in the original Ford lettering, someone had replaced the individual letters that had said Focus, with the same type of letters, but it said FucoFF. :rotfl:0

My first thought was that it could've been a young lad - but then realised it was a Meriva and, well, nah.. lol
Maybe someone wanting to impress their neighbours.0 -

Happens more than you'd think in some bodyshops, my mate's a parts man in one and he's got boxes full of badges the workshop have forgotten to put on.
I'd guess it's had damage to the tailgate that wasn't worth going to the insurance for (as above, backed into something at low speed being the common one), so they've either had a new boot lid put on privately, or a second-hand colour-matched one off a breakers yard.
As above, find a friendly local bodyshop, and ask them to give you their opinion on the repair, they might make a small charge, particularly if you want it in writing, but it'll give you peace of mind.
Best way to check is to run your finger around the gap between the boot and the lights/rear panel and see if it's even side to side.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Thanks everyone. Received a reply from the manager this morning and he said it could be that the badge and engine size just fell off  like they do! And then the engine size was replaced with the wrong one.
It doesn't bother me in the fact that its there it just worries me that it could affect my insurance or that theres some unknown history on the car. The dashboard seems like its been put together by a child. No lines are straight, bits of plastic that should meet eachother in a straight line are off set badly!
Or is that how vauxhalls are? Never had one before.0
