When your younger sibling reduces their teaching hours and starts claiming their teachers' pension!

Or is that just jealousy over the pension?

One older sibling has already taken early retirement, that was bad enough!!!

That would just indicate you were a female aged over 18, wouldn't it?
  • You're old enough to be puzzled as to why you aren't financially straight yet considering the amount of effort you have put into reaching that state and how many years you have been waiting to be.....but young enough that you are still determinedly working towards being so...

On a serious note, when you realise that if you were ill and had to convalesce you would have to do it in an old people's home and not an ordinary hospital. The fact that you are over 10 years away from getting the state pension does not cheer you up btw.
  • As fast as I pay off debt the government goes out and borrows it again and taxes me to pay the interest.

...and when you're old enough to remember that there were ONCE such things as convalescent homes. I can recall when anyone who needed a period of convalescence could go to such a home. I'm not even sure they exist any longer. I know some trade unions had ones that they kept going for some time, but wonder if they might have been shut now....

I guess our society these days doesn't believe its necessary to have a period of convalescence after a serious illness (part of the Hurry Culture..where everything is supposed to be done yesterday..including getting well in a matter of hours flat)

Guess that's what happens in a society that thinks women can give birth and be out of hospital in a matter of hours (where my mother expected to stay in hospital for around a week - or was it 10 days? - when she had me back in the 1950s). Also people being thrown out of hospital literally in the middle of the night sometimes...
