I seem to hit a brick wall every time I try to get some money. It turns out that none of the online bookselling people are looking for my books. Can anyone recommend where to look next? I am not too worried about the amount of money I get for them, it is more a case that they are cluttering our house and we are happy to get rid of them and get a small amount of cash as a bonus. Any ideas would be great.
So all that has resulted in is an even more cluttered spare room so I need to put them away now.
Tonight's plan before we have a nice evening of tapas food and a long tv watching fest of a series that a friend has given us is to ask DH to give me some honest opinions. I have lots of lovely long posh dresses many of which I don't fit into anymore. I am going to be ruthless this time and if they don't fit I am going to get them ready to list on ebay.
Not sure what to do next but I guess I should tidy the books away and then I may bake some date and walnut loaf ready for the weekend, it is yummyMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Your diary is so focussed AJ, whereas mine is just one useless ramble after another:o
I find it so hard to meal-plan as I am a veggie, and with two teenagers who are more often than not around for meals - it would be easier for me to meal-plan with the dog!

I find it hard to plan with a DH who may as well be a child where planning is concerned. It normally follows like this
Me: What do you want for dinner?
DH: I don't know
Me: Is there anything you fancy?
DH: But I don't know what they have in the supermarket
Me: Tell me the sort of the thing and then I will have a look
DH: Why don't we just see what they have.......
and that is why I find it hard to control any grocery spending.
And I am glad that my diary sounds focussed, I seem to be anything but! Thanks for reading, I am now reading loads of diaries as it means I don't have to do anything.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Today's jobs
Bake two date and walnut loaves, one for us and one as a gift for a friend tonight
Try all my evening dresses on and get ready to sell the ones that don't fit
SOA combined and individual as DH seems to be in the right frame of mind
Told DH about my saving on the shopping yesterday, tried to make it sound as if it wasn't a big deal cos he takes more notice than if I am getting over excited.
I am hoping the SOA is productive, if DHs finances work out in the same way then we can discuss the OPs and the first one will hopefully be made today :jMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

A question for those of you who are good at working this out...our mortgage interest rate is 4% so to work out savings v mortgage what do we need to look at?MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

From working out our finances I have £261.98 disposable income a month (there may be something I have forgotten). I am not keen on tying that money up in case I need it so will probably pay what we can afford at the end of each month. Obviously the more I can make the better! Need to work out DHs money now, I know what his bills come to so need to see what disposable income he has.
We have spoken about holidays, groceries and entertainment in brief. I have let DH see how much we were in deficit between our savings for holidays and how much we were spending. We are going to consider more affordable holidays and possibly not so many but I have suggested we try and stick to our £400 a month for groceries and entertainment ie not transferring any extra over. If we can pay the OPs I would like still then any extra each month I will either put to the mortgage or holiday fund, probably the latter.
I now need to see if DH is happy to transfer an OP now.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

In addition to my question about savings vs mortgage OPs I have another question. I was planning on my loan taking care of itself but I am now wondering if I should OP my loan instead, ideas?MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I have answered my own question and £200 has just been OPd to my loan, I pay £264.71 a month so if I should hopefully clear it quicker. I am aiming to pay that a month and any extra I make/have left will be going to an OP on the mortgage. Unfortunately it means that no OP will be made on it this month but it should all help eventually. I need to get making money now, hope to get enough to OP £100 in October.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I think I am missing the point, shall I just throw all my money at my loan until it has gone and then put it all towards the mortgage?
I have just discovered the check in bit of quidco so am going to give that a go today, I am sure it can't be as easy as it seems.
ETA In other news we have £59,951.89 in savings :jMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Oh my goodness! That savings total is awesome well done you
Just found your diary, need to have a back-read of it!
I would say pay off whichever has the highest interest rate first - was that the question? If the loan interest is higher than the mortgage, pay that off first.0
