Just logged in to Ebay for the first time in a while as I think I will need to sell some stuff on there. Do you get stuff ready for free listings and if so how do you do it? I really need to make some money.

I have had a NSD today, I need as many of these as possible. Will look at selling some books later.

    Another NSD today.

Have been getting on well with my swimming challenge but...I found out today that the pool at work is not 33m but 30m! So at the end of my mile and a half swim I had to do extra to get me back on track. I have 75% left to do with 21 days to do it in.

Need to plan for Christmas this week, still looking at going on holiday but the ones we are looking at are a lot cheaper and all inclusive so we would still save money and may even end up snorkelling on Christmas Day. I want to use a bit more thought on presents so will research that tonight.

Have my first flute lesson with a new teacher tomorrow, a little nervous. It will cost £32 but will eventually get the cost back. DH has had a call about another flute pupil but doesn't want to take anymore on so has asked me to do it. I am quite nervous about it but after a couple of weeks that should ease and I am sure the £30 a lesson should help!

Had my flute lesson today, it was good but I have a lot to work on and annoyingly it is small things that will take time. I will need to practice a lot to make sure I am not wasting my lesson money. So other than my lesson money it has been a NSD.

18 people to buy presents for this year and I know what to get all but 3 of them. A couple will take some thought as they are silly hampers but should be easy to get. Quite a few of the gifts are from one website and I can get 12% cashback and may have a voucher too (but don't know if it will be in date). Going to try and decide on the last couple, price up all the shopping (have kept a note of costs when writing down what to get) and then see if we can afford to get everything next month. I have wrapping paper and cards so I have a challenge.

    1. Buy all presents in October
    2. Wrap all presents and write cards in November
    3. Buy all Christmas food (depending on holidays) in November

Hopefully this will make December less stressful.

Working this evening so have a bit of time to myself this morning. Going for a swim at 10 and then going into the local mobile phone shop to see what they will give me for the three old mobiles that I have. I have written down the upper and lower payments I have been offered on line so I know what I can try and barter with. I also need to make a call to a second hand jeweller that I have found in Edinburgh to check if they buy rings. All the others I have been to say they do but then just buy for scrap. As much as I don't wear them anymore it would be a waste to sell for scrap as they would be fine for someone else.

I have a list of things to do for tomorrow as I have the day off, the main one is to get the shopping for the weekend so DH and I don't need to go shopping and risk buying more stuff that we don't need!

Today will not be a NSD as we need to buy dinner out, it makes more financial sense than an hour round trip drive home for food. I am trying just to stick with that for food though!

We are going to cancel the policy we took out the other day for the mortgage. There have been phone calls back and forward all week but the policy went up by £6.50 a month the other day which caused us to re-evaluate. It has ended up being for DH's weight as the BMI is higher than they would like. They then told me the optimum/lower weight which is 6 stone lighter than he is now and 2 stone lighter than I am! Although it would possibly be a little difficult we are not planning on having a policy now. We have enough in savings to clear our lowest mortgage and if anything happened to one of us one of the cars would be sold which would pay the mortgage for a year. Also we wouldn't stay in the house as it would be too big so we are going to risk not having a policy. We would have taken it out over 17 years but plan for the mortgage to have gone in 10 so we would be out of pocket. Also adding that to the OPs would cut the mortgage by another 3 months which would help too.

First OP will be made on Sunday/Monday when we have sorted the money for the rest of the month.

Been to do another food shop today, I really need to work out how/why we spend so much on food seeing as it is only the two of us. I have also redone my food inventory to try and work it into some sort of meal plan. Ideally I would like to start working on the grocery budget now but have a few stints away and although DH normally buys food with his own money when I am away it is hard to reign him in. We still need to sit together and sort out a proper SOA for our financial appointment with the bank, I am less scared now I have had a few days to think about the last one. I need to make him realise my concerns and not just think I am being a bit tight with my money.

Have been paid so off to look at money things from now until the end of October.

Just sold 3 old mobiles and will get between £3.66 and £7.31 once they have received them. I was going over to Edinburgh today to see about my jewellery but as I am going through there next Wednesday anyway I have decided to wait and save the train fare.

On my way upstairs to look at selling a couple of books, will try some of my classic novels first.
