Sounds like you have had a hectic few weeks and hope you get some relaxing time in too . What grade piano exam are you doing?
Grade 4 in 11 days  I am quite hard on myself as I already play the flute and saxophone to a high standard and I get annoyed when things don't work as quickly. Today's practice has gone well, I just hope I can show what I have done in my lesson tomorrow.Hi aj, good news about work it seems very promising. What is your fav website for receipes out of nosiness ?
BBC Good Food.
As expected Mr AJM turned his nose up when I told him it was a soup based dinner!!! It was ok but not sure I would cook it again. The victoria sponge on the other hand is the nicest I have made in a long while. Just the malt loaf to try now.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Good luck with the exams AJ!
I know its hard when you play other instruments not to compare them - but you will probably have the advantage of knowing how things should *sound* even if the playing part takes more practice iyswim?
Takes me back - not sure Id pass grade one anymore tho!
Nom nom on the cake ...makes me think I might do some baking over the weekend!0 -
Our house guest left this morning and Mr AJM is at work so the house is very quiet today. This is the start of four days off for me and I am determined not to go into work at all. We had a lovely meal cooked for us yesterday by our guest, peppers stuffed with minced pork and bulger wheat and harissa coated homemade chips, leeks and shallots. It was strange to watch someone else cooking in my kitchen but the food was amazing and definately something I will try myself at some point.
Today we are having thai style steamed trout so I need to get some of the stuff for that. I need to do an inventory but don't know if I can be bothered to do it today. I know what we need for the weekend so I may just buy that and do the inventory on Monday and meal plan around that. Mr AJMs son and girlfriend are coming for dinner tomorrow night so I need to find an easy dessert.
I have already vac'd my car this morning and am having a quick catch up on here before I make my shopping list and go out.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I haven't been very productive today. However the improvement on my piano pieces is amazing, only a week to go and it won't matter anymore
Just done a freezer inventory while putting the shopping away as it needed rearranging. Mr AJM is going away for a few day in July and I am intending to have it emptied by then and then I will restock for him coming back complete with with homemade frozen veg for roasts.
I have decided on roast chicken for tomorrow as it seems the safest of the meats. I have a choice of apple crumble, raspberries, meringues and ice cream or date and walnut loaf for dessert so either way I will be baking tomorrow. I would like to make my own gravy but I always get flustered by it and get DH to do it for me, however I am cooking to give me the excuse to get away tomorrow so will need to learn quickly.
Think I will need to go back to shopping at Aldi as the shopping bill seems to be getting higher and it wasn't very low to start with. I am enjoying cooking properly but all the fresh stuff is quite pricey. We have lots of jars of things to use up so that is my first job.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I am trying to work out a better way of putting money across to my savings so I can reach my target quicker and then put more towards the mortgage. I have decided to put aside money for hair cuts etc each month and try to budget £10 a day (I never spend this amount) for anything else. My theory is if I transfer this into one of my many smaller accounts as I spend I can take it out and put it back in my current account and anything that is left over can go to savings at the end of the month. Hopefully that will still leave me with a buffer in my account at the end of the month which I will try and put half to savings and half to the mortgage. I am not sure if this will work but I am going to give it a go for the rest of the month and see how I go.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Our dinner was beautiful, almost a disaster but we rescued it. Mr AJM is enjoying my new cooking streak but my problem is I am enjoying cooking new things so much that I am reluctant to repeat anything yet. I have almost managed to plan a set of meals for next week :jMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Your cooking streak sounds wonderful, Mr AJM is a lucky chap (oh Lord, I wrote 'licky' by mistake and then realised before I posted!
)
The Thai steamed trout sounded particularly good, is that a BBC Good Food receipe as well?0 -

Yes, it is their thai style steamed fish recipe.
Dinner was narrowly saved from being a disaster this evening, problems with the oven, different sizes/portions and most of all nerves at cooking for Mr AJM's son.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I am treating myself today and buying a new pair of shorts ready for my summer holiday, the money comes from my daily allowance from the last 3 days and the change will be going into my ISA. I need to go and pick up a pair of trousers from town that Mr AJM ordered so will go then and try and catch up on some check ins too. I had planned on ditching the premium membership for £co before the year was up but I missed it so need to reach £5 quickly so I can get some more payouts.
Quite a busy week this week, not least because my piano exam is on Friday. I have already played through everything this morning and it didn't go too badly, I am feeling far more confident about it now.
I need to finish doing an inventory of the fridge and cupboards today, we have lots of jars that need to be used up and bits of salad/desserts left over from the weekend. I may have to re-jig my ideas from the meal plan to get these in. We found our fridge a lot warmer than it should have been on Saturday and are not sure if everything is ok or how long it had been like that so the sooner we can get rid and start again the better. Heading back to Ald! today as the shopping bill seems to be rising, will need to finish with a Mr S shop so I don't waste fuel.
