I've just spent 2 days at my uncle's and though my 11 y/o cousin has gone back to school (she's in Scotland) she was at home the whole time because it was evening/family funeral/morning.
I can honestly say I've never been happier to be child free. I had a permanent headache the whole time!
And don't get me started on the kids in our street.
I really don't know how parents last the whole 6 weeks

The summer has been fine for us. For the first half my son alternated between the holiday club and grandma's. Then we had a week in Cornwall, and I had this week on annual leave too doing day-trips from home. My daughter has been off nursery for two weeks and her behaviour has got gradually worse, culminating in an hour-long tantrum in Legoland today, but nothing I can't cope with.
Just wish the weather had been a bit better...0 -
Cannot. Wait. For. Next. Week.

I can't wait either
Even though I managed to order school pants to be picked up in store for the end of September instead of today
His blazer won't be here for 3 weeks and I still haven't got his shoes lol.
He's been a pain in the bum though, has continually moaned, been cheeky, acted up.... even though he's spent 6 days in the past 2 weeks with his grandad (I have seen him everyday though for a few hours while I visit my Dad) I still want to bring Monday here as quickly as possible. The only thing I'm not looking forward to are the calls from school to say he's done this or that :mad:Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -
Mine went back to school two weeks ago. I miss the summer holidays, lazy mornings, day-trips out, coming home late. I really enjoyed this summer with my kids. Counting the days to September weekend now!0

OH is in charge of parenting this week.
He ironed on the badge to a £23 Marks and Spencer blazer and....melted the blazer. Tomorrow he has to do the walk of shame (alone - I will be having a lie-in) to purchase another blazer and try again....0 -
It appears to me from reading these posts that anyone who has had a great time has either had huge family support, had their children in nursery/holiday clubs for the majority of the break, or totally loaded and able to either take the summer off or spend the majority of it on a fantastic holiday/break.
I am a single parent, have to work, am skint and have no family support. I can assure you that, although I love my two teenagers more than anything else I can ever possibly imagine, I can't wait for school to begin.0 -

Or is lucky enough not to have to work - but i reckon that comes under loaded. and don't start lecturing me on not working as OH works etc etc etc etc. I do it all - not wanting a reward or medal but 3 early swimming sessions a week - so up at 4.30 and five 2 hour evening sessions a week, school, work and a dozen other activities that crop up.;0
