    Rolls sleeves up...

Well actually, I collated the info earlier this evening, but then got distracted, so here's an update now...

    New challengers:
    29. pavlos_dog. Reduce my mortgage from £121,000 to £106,000.
    ...

    108. taka. *** Objective to be set ***
    109. Poppy_Golightly. Build up my savings from £50 to £249,000.
    110. zebedeesaysboing. Reduce my mortgage from £156,499 to £126,499.
    111. GoldenSand. Reduce my mortgage from £72,000 to £54,000.
    112. exarmydreamer. Reduce my mortgage from £109,000 to £85,000.
    113. MortgageFreeby50. Reduce my mortgage from £200,000 to £190,000.

Managed to allocate black taxi a second number, when processing an objective update. Wants to keep 106, so pavlos_dog gets 29 instead.

Also, the challengers below have either added or amended their objectives:

    2. Alion. Reduce my mortgage from £270,000 to £225,000.
    30. OS QS. Reduce my mortgage from £134,000 to £90,000.
    38. HelenDaveKids. Reduce my mortgage from £86,400 to £33,000.
    81. starlet10. Completely clear my £52,460 mortgage.
    82. newgirly. Reduce my mortgage from £147,200 to £115,000.

The chart text gets updated automatically now, but I'll have to manually copy the above info into post #1. I'll update post #1 and PM the new challengers tomorrow, as it's getting a little late now.

As per usual, anything incorrect, please PM or post here and I'll address.

And if you've just joined this evening, I may have missed that. I'll pick that up as well tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    FB.

Em no........ I pay whenever I get spare cash. So if an ebay sale comes through with £1.87 profit that gets OP'd :o.

WOW! I didn't know you could make overpayments of less than a tenner. Thanks for this. :)

HERE is the Queen of small OP's ;).

Not very good for the environment though. My last mortgage statement was 6 pages long ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Morning Tattycath, GG is right, I OP any pennies in my current a/c each morning. As it is all on line, I just sweep it across to the mortgage :)

I'm not sure whether 2p maybe my smallest, knowing me I could have OPd 1p before now :rotfl:

I do balance that with larger OPs though, just to keep the ying yang thing going.

    Hi everybody!

I did try joining up a few pages ago but I don't seem to have been added and I have refilled out the form so please could you pop me on the list? I didnt fill it out with a number so do I need a number before joining? Sorry I am probably being dense.

On Saturday DH and I went to see the mortgage man at the Halifax and cut down the term of the mortgage so it now means that we will be paying £550 a month off the capital so I am going to count any capital repayments as OP as I want to clear the whole 160k in 3 years so before we can do our 10% OP in May we will be clearing £3300. Any other OP may lead to ERCs and DH is not happy about those so will have to set up a savings pot specifically for the mortgage.

DH is now firmly onboard (I am so happy with this as it has taken years of discussions and gentle persuasion) and is happy to economise more, although he turned the thermostat up by 1 degree.

It is funny when you see the mortgage advisor and they look through all your history and see all the tiny OPs, I haven't done anything smaller than 60p when I decided not to have a coke out off the vending machine at work. They must think we are mad and this is the second person we have seen and neither have ever seen anything looking like "money laundering" before.

  • @Shineyhappy - I only take requests off the registration form. Reason for this is that there can sometimes be a lot of "chatter" in this thread and as a result, it's easy to miss people off.

I'll have another look this evening - if you registered, I'm not sure why I missed you off.

  • Savings.
Many of you (including me) have a savings goal. Quick / simple question - how do you track / monitor the best savings rates?

I registered a few weeks ago at Savings Champion (http://www.savingschampion.co.uk/) and I'm currently using that site along with a few comparison sites, eg money supermarket (http://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/).

Be interested to see how others track the best rates...
