    Well I am not organised yet with the OP. But I know that really I need to set a day in the month where I push money across - is that what everyone else does? Or do people just make the direct debit higher? xx

  • @samtoby - I used to always overpay on the first of the month - can't overpay any earlier than that.

    And if you're on daily interest, of which I think most are these days, the sooner you overpay the better.

    I also shortened my term a number of times, pushing my DD from 543.80 eventually to 887.41

    Due to cashing in endowment policy early and all the scrimping and selling ive done.... its now (as of December) 86.4k and I'd like to reduce to 33k as intend to cash in my other endowments early.

    Em no........ I pay whenever I get spare cash. So if an ebay sale comes through with £1.87 profit that gets OP'd :o.

  • I'm quite excited by this. It's my first MFIT challenge and if i succeed then i'll have paid off a 1/3 of my mortgage in under 5 years on one income.

    (i'm a youngy so i'm not as MSE as most other people in these forums as i like to have some fun while i'm young and buy the latest gadgets/go on holiday too)
    Mortgage 1: May 2012 £90,000 April 2020: £47,000
    Mortgage 2: £270,000😱 Jan 2019 £253,000 April 2020
