If you simply cannot comprehend what's being said, thats your issue, not mine. However, while some of this fall has been driven by lower interest rates and house prices,
Yes Graham, I see 3 reasons why mortgage payments are lower as a percentage of income in that sentence alone. Those "lowest ever mortgage payment" figures heralded the other day is simply due to the length of the loan getting longer.

There may be a point.
Let's say you see that there is a leaking tile on your roof. You know there will be problems ahead. Do you "live for today", and simply ignore the leak. Or would it be best to address the minor problem, and avoid future trouble ?
You're comparing apples and pears with your argument. To really address wotsthat's point about worrying about the future, your argument would be thus:There may be a point.
Let's say you predict there may be a leak in your roof over the next 5 to 10 years. You think that there will be problems ahead. Do you "live for today", and simply laugh at yourself for worrying about issues that probably won't happen. Or would it be best to worry night and day about the potential problem?
I take your point though about preparedness. There are some people who fail to prepare for anything going wrong and are totally blindsided when they do. Just as bad though are those people who do prepare for things going wrong (i.e. they get household insurance, critical illness cover, income protection cover) and yet they still worry about the future even though they have done everything they can possibly do to address potential problems.
I'm in the middle ground where I am pessimistic enough to cover myself for problems, optimistic enough to assume that I've done everything I can to soften the blow and realistic enough to know that worrying about something happening won't prevent it or make it any easier if and when it happens.0 -

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
