Phew, its hot in here......GRRRRR!
Aside from giving the energy companies more money, this week I have been mostly doing overtime, reading a lot and messing about online a lot. And I.....- Set up S&S ISA
- Re-Invigorated my to be closed eBay account
- Invested in some shares (Up £3.69 already!!)
- Sorted out car insurance
- Booked meal out for me and the missus
And only three days to NEW CAR day!!!!:j0 -
Well, it has been busy recently, very busy. My son has been in an out of hospital for tests, some quite invasive. My wife has to undergo minor surgery soon, so more hospital visits coming up.
On the money side we have had, I am sorry to say, a bit of a spend up this month. I bought a car, a toy, something I have always wanted and have spent not only on the purchase but the insurance, spares, fuel and it will be an ongoing cost stream now, but in my opinion, worth every penny and I am still grinning.:D
Aside from that, we have also had some household expenditure as the old computer finally gave out, and as my netbook is quite old although I refurbished it, we invested in a new machine so my son and wife can access the web at the same time and he can do his increasingly net based homework. We have also spent out on the house and there will be some more to come as we plan on re-decorating a little over the winter months.
Not very MSE at all and I expect when I do the end of months figures they will be wincing....
Aside from that, work is becoming increasingly difficult and this is spurring on the desire to be mortgage free, so a little more planning will be required to accommodate the need to be mortgage free and the need we are all feeling to cut loose a little and have fun. Whatever happens, I am keeping my Jag!;):rotfl:
PS- My blog has been updated......0 -

I assumed that she was named after your first salary:rotfl:
Lovely car, definitely not developing any rust for lust here, but we can all appreciate design classics.0 -
Congrats on your new car SD, or should I say on welcoming Sixpence to the family
Nice to see you striking a balance between finance and achieving your dreams

Wishing your Son and Wife well and hope that you get some results/answers soon, following your Son's tests.southerndave wrote: »Aside from that, work is becoming increasingly difficult and this is spurring on the desire to be mortgage free, so a little more planning will be required to accommodate the need to be mortgage free and the need we are all feeling to cut loose a little and have fun. Sorry to hear that work is difficult. I am looking forward to the mortgage being paid so that I can work part-time/have a less demanding job/less responsibilities etc etc.
As you wrote on my Diary 'simplicity is the key'. I am trying hard to keep to this as having too much going on just fries my brain. Also, as we are such a long way off from paying the mortgage I don't want to look back and feel that we were so intent on paying everything towards the mortgage that we haven't had fun along the way.

Thanks for comments.
SD - I have to admit to really struggling with mortgage free / MSE recently and even keeping it simple! Trying to strike the balance is really hard and at the moment sometimes it seems relentless - you get so far forward and think this is alright and then a couple of bills or unexpected's come in, or you need to splash out on a holiday or on something for the house etc, and you're sliding back again.
Part of me wants to say sod this, get a fixed repayment mortgage and so long as the payments go in each month, to hell with it. We owe nobody nothing, we pay all our bills as they are due, we dont drink much, we dont smoke, we rarely go out, we holiday sensibly, we save into pensions and savings and yet we always seem to be fixated on scrimping and saving more.......am I the only one getting like this? Sometimes I think I read too many 'good idea' books and philosophies for my own good....0 -
You know my philosophy - loaves and lilies! It's all about getting the right balance. If I'm feeling a little bit fed up with it all or a little bit guilty it's just a sign that I haven't got the balance right for now and need to have a re-think.
