Well nothing fell down in the blowing and rain, so that was good. On the mortgage front been another good month as I have been caning the overtime whilst it is there and even with a small seasonal fireworks habit to support, have made great dent in payments, nearly nudging under the £69k mark and we have managed to shave another TWO months off our planned repayment date, which is brilliant. :j
Its hard going sometimes but seeing your progress month by month and having an actual date that is getting closer is a great motivator. Hopefully going to get some extra work and overtime over the run up to Xmas, so feeling confident we can make another few big dents in the balance by year end.0 -
Great progress, well done :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I love it when I see the mortgage term reduced by a month, as it really motivates me to keep on going. Great news that you will be having some overtime coming up, which will no doubt shave some extra months off the mortgage term.

Spent a little today. Been thinking for ages of getting a blender for making smoothies, but they can be quite pricey and the one we liked, the Nutribullet is over £100. At Sainsbury's today they had a Morphy Richards one on offer for £24 (plus the Nectar points) so we got it. Works brilliantly and gives a healthy alternative for breakfast now and we can utilise cheap 'on the turn' veg and fruit from the supermarket.
Aside from that, pretty quiet weekend. Had a trip out to the Bluebell Railway for a £1 as I get two free tickets every year, so only had to pay for my boy. Aside from the rain was good day and of course, very MSE! We have our fireworks on Tuesday and spent today making the guy, so got that to look forward to.
Will try and update my blog during the week dependent on work.0 -
Well the end of another week and mixed blessings. I have done something VERY VERY MSE and something very UN-MSE......
VERY MSE- Opened an ISA. I know the rates probably prefer paying the mortgage to saving, but I wanted somewhere to drip feed odds and sods into for the future so these are long-term, not touching savings, running alongside my pension provision. I have also joined the work BAYE scheme, again as a long term saving project, little and often amount wise. Should have read TRMIB and MND much, much sooner in my life and I wouldn't be working now. I feel so dumb for not doing so....:money:
UN-MSE - I bought a car/toy/car/dream/car. I have always wanted a Jaguar. I have loved Jags since childhood and could have owned one before but young men in Jags don't look right. I am now the right age and a pal of mine was selling his and I crumbled. Its a running 'project' and will be my weekend car really and although it really is impossible to justify in a MSE and MF way*, I had to have it. It was a now or never moment. So next weekend I pick her up and I am currently like a little kid counting the days to Christmas. She is a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 and she is b-e-a-utiful!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
* waiting for justified criticism from Mrs Ed..........:o:rotfl:0 -
