The debt will be statute barred after six years.
You will be leaving your family to face all sorts of hassle.
Which is more of a priority to you?0 -
Well if you cannot pay back a loan, you might have to declare yourself bankrupt. Wipe the slate cleam, althought you will never be able to get a loan again.
If you owe a criminal organisation money. Then I doubt bankruptsy will work. In which case, say good-bye to your legs unless you can beg family / friends to bail you out. Then learn from your mistake and gamble again.
If you plan on running, I would book a ticket to France. It's cheaper and being in the E.U. I belive you can still legally work in France?
If you go to AUS, they will just deport you with a savings or a job. Unless you have a very rich, close family member whose already a rich citizen who can confirm a vancancy. Even then it takes months for the AUS government to CRB checks.0 -

I know you didnt ask about visas but its a fundamental aspect if you want to work over there.
19lottie82 has posted some good advice, to get a job in Aus you need skills that are in demand plus you need a work visa.
Actually maybe the visa wouldn't take as long as i thought.0 -
It is 6 years for statue barred but whats to say you cant even get 4k in pay day loans ? then what would you do ?
Your willing to go to extreme lengths for 4k when you could ask friends/family for the money, even ask the friend in Aus and Fra for the money(as already suggested).
Also re the visa, not sure how long it takes but takes a few weeks i would have thought, how much is the flight say £700 so add that to the stuff you can sell which is £700 so thats 1.4k so another 2.6k to find.
Not sure on this myself but wouldn't the OP need to provide evidence he has the money to pay his way, ok so hes living with a friend but his friend might not be able to support himself plus the OP.
Not sure what the statute barred situation would be with regard to dodgy loan sharks ? They're not likely to be passing the debt on to any debt collectors are they ? Probably keep it "in house" so to speak.0 -

I don't think they will hassle my family. They won't have their details or have any right to.
Do you know if I'll be able to come back to visit or will that affect the 6years thing?0 -

Why not use the money you would spend coming home to repay your debts ? Then you could come back with no worries.0 -
You say you are a gambler. What if you carry on gambling in Aus? You may have to flee Aus and leave your friends/family there in a situation they dont deserve to be in. If none of your family/friends in the UK have got 4k to lend you explain what is going on and ask them if they would take a loan out for you and set up a direct debit from your account....doing it your way is going to turn you from a gambler into a thief.0

Oh I forgot. I applied and was granted for an AUS working Visa. They were really designed for GAP year students and only valid for one year. They also cost money to buy, and you can only work in a job for 3 months (bar work, fruit picking etc) before you have to move on and you need to proof that you intend to leave the country by having a valid return ticket or available to funds.
The E.U is your best place to run to. I dont think any Visa is required?
Please put us out of our misery. Who do you owe money to?0
