  • Just made a trip to town to donate all the things that are too heavy to carry when walking to work. Kept a bad back for our Guide Divisions nearly new sale next month.

Used a £10 Christmas M&S voucher today on this dine in for £10 deal - not had one before but seemed the best value for the voucher as I don't shop there normally! It was even better when I saw it included lager bottles instead of wine as I don't drink at home and wine would just sit in the cupboard but the beers went down very well with OH. I also managed to snaffle a free carrier bag as I had forgotten mine annoyingly but the lady asked me for ID to buy the lager, she was so embarrassed for asking that she let me have the bag for free! It's silly tho-I didn't take offence, I'm 27 and get asked almost everytime!
    :rotfl:
Not a NSD, I grudgingly bought some new boots from MrA for £20 (down from £38) as mine currently are getting holes in them and my feet are getting wet!! Don't know when this changed, I used to always want new shoes/clothes - now I'm grumbling when I need to buy them!! :p I think part of it is because I spent quite a bit on my current boots thinking they would be better quality and last longer but they've lasted 14 months!! Not good enough for me I'm afraid

Hope everyone's having a lovely Saturday!!

The £10 meal deal seems to be very popular with some people. I had a colleague (retired now) who ended up buying one roughly every fortnight. The odd thing is that neither he or his wife drink wine routinely, so they would build up a massive stash of unopened wine and then donate it to church raffles etc.

I often thought about asking him why he didn't just buy the food without the wine in the deal, but I suppose it made sense to him :D

Enjoy being asked for ID while it lasts - I turn 30 in a few weeks and haven't been asked for ID once in the last year!
  • Hi All,

Been a while since I last checked in but am revising for my works exam and needed to procrastinate a bit! :o

Getting back on top of the OP's - hadnt realised I had literally forgotten about them for 2 months, Iv spent so long balancing out the wedding spreadsheet that im just happy that there is money in the joint account! All back on track as of this week coming tho - need to tighten up!

Had a freezer tidy yesterday  What a nightmare - I borrowed some fancy spray stuff which was supposed to make the ice melt quicker - It didnt. It was much quicker with a bowl of hot water and shutting the door etc but the problem is im too impatient for that and spent 2 hours chipping away at it all with a plastic scraper - there must have been about 4 cm of ice around the top section of the freezer - It sounds like its running so much better now, although im not surprised! Im so glad its done - things wernt freezing properly for ages - im impressed I didnt poison us!!

Spent the morning baking some carrot cakes and icing to freeze ready for my SIL to be's baby shower next weekend and still have more cakes to make as its my birthday and friends are over and I have to take cakes to work - but I dont mind-I love baking and it means I dont have to eat them all then! :p

On the baby shower issue im making (read-mums making) a 'Nappy Cake' made out of rolled up nappies and ribbon and a cute hooded blanket from MR M and little toy for the top. Trying to be inventive and thrifty with this present as I know we will need to buy her something else when the baby is actually born. We have already been told that whilst everyone else is getting her clothes etc, us family can get her 'specific items' - (read-'expensive items') - cheeky so and so. SO I figure making a shed load of cakes and making bunting (im already making it for my wedding so a few extra wont be much hassle) and doing a Nappy Cake should be enough to be a 'Good Aunty'

I havent done much revising this afternoon - very naughty-but who wants to sit and read about Local Government pensions on a sunny Sunday!? Eugh! :(

  • Happy Easter Monday all, Hope you've had a nice day.

We went had a nice drive up to a little town called Bridgenorth and it was FREEZING cold but had a nice walk around the high and low towns and went to see the massive steam trains on the severn valley. Was a NSD too for me (oh paid the £1 parking charge :o )

Lots relisted on fleabay during FLW, im so pleased I Finally remembered to do this - its been 3 FLW's since the last time I sold anything and kept forgetting to relist and its silly really as its only a few clicks and iv nothing currently to list as new so theres hardly any effort involved.

Kicking myself about car tax - ran out yesterday and I had forgotten to reneew it so did it online today however the price had gone up since having the renewal reminder which I didnt understand until I read the note saying that it may have increased due to the chancellors budget increases  This means that if I had got my ar5e into gear and done it as soon as I received the reminder I would have saved myself a couple of £'s! Serves me right I suppose. Hmph.

Am considering getting myself a DSLR camera - but im a bit scared - i only want a 'budget' one but they are like £300!! Iv never spent that much money on one item in my life! (car and house excluded) So a lot of research is gong into them. And iv got my dads OLD slr with film to play with, unfortunately I forgot to take it to bridgenorth today which would have been perfect, theres only so many house plants I can take pictues of!! :rotfl: Also I have no idea who still develops films for cameras? Boots??

  • Sooo - had a FAIL on my fleabay relisting session the other day- iv managed to relist something that iv already sold!? Whoops! :p
Thankfully no bids so ended early with no fuss.

Looking forward to bringing my OPs up to date at the weekend-going to try and make a spreadsheet so I can keep a record of the interest decreasing. :D small steps

Maybe best do an ebay spreadsheet as well .

I may have done the same in the past
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Hi Vala, I love Bridgenorth but haven't been for years.

Glad you were able to stop your eb@y sales- I am guilty of that one as well :o

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • Thanks for that - At least I know im not the only one!

On the upside I have just listed my first @mazon listing - never done it before but nothing to lose I suppose - Iv been motivated after reading others success with it. It was very easy as I only had to search for what I was selling - no dreaded write ups or anything - all done for me! Its definately going to be the way forward with things like books etc. Just wishing I hadnt donated all those nice hardbacks to the charity shops now! Grr!!

  • Also on the wedding fron OH FINALLY bought his wedding suit this weekend just gone - went to Next and got him a 3 piece suit and I must say it was worth every penny. ..I thought I was going to cry when I peeked into the dressing room. :o Im not normally like that!
He's super chuffed with it which im pleased with and he gets to wear again - which I am slightly jealous of given that I only get to wear my dress once!! He's kindly paying for his new shows out of his own pocket (as opposed to the joint budget) as he will get tons of wear out of them himself. Im glad also as I hadnt actually budgeted for shoes anyways! (I already owned the ones I will wear-much to everyone elses distaste!!) - I just dont get why everyone thinks everything has to be NEW for weddings, I just keep thinking back to WW1/2 times when you just had a skirt suit which you probably owned or borrowed and went in to the registrars with a little bunch of flowers, just you and the groom and you were done!! Simples - to borrow a phrase from a little furry animal...:T

That's always my biggest fear, as if doesn't sell, will mix it up, put 2 items together etc. Paranoid will accidentally sell twice by mistakenly relisting. glad yours was ok!
