  • Yes, original is just plain choc maltesers and looks a bit more elegant but couldn't not have 30 somewhere on it! Haha! They are white maltesers and they are like gold dust! I only found them in my local spar shop weirdly! I thought they would be more frequent around Christmas! Also using a 9 inch cake tin it took FOUR big bags to cover it-not doing THAT again! Haha! :p people seemed to appreciate it tho!

Just put our Christmas tree up, it's looking quite festive. :T I may have to take a day off this week to fit everything in, cake icing, present delivering, grandparent visiting, shower fixing, parent visiting, present wrapping! Does anyone else feel like work just gets in the way sometimes?? :o

  • Hiya All,

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas? :j

Me and OH have booked a few days off so enjoying just having to do NOTHING. (but I get itchy and have to start pottering around after a few days of this!)

Had another issue with the car which could be up to £350 if it does go wrong but garage says it will last a while yet - new car time one thinks :( Im sad as im really attached to my car, its my second car since my first metro rust bucket!! And it was exactly what I wanted and found for a bargain price (even when I was living at home I loved a bargain!) But I guess its only a matter of time its only 10 years old tho, I wonder if it really shouldnt be falling apart like this?

Ah well - will start looking after the wedding when we can save up a little more!

Just going to buy milk today - and a little nose around hobby crafts as my mum has emailed to say that they are selling those big cardboard letters for 99p instead of 1.99 so will get a couple of them for decor on the big day - real original something like Mr and Mrs you know? haha! Maybe our initials too. Itl be a nice chep little project as I already have pretty papers I can stick on them. Other than that I dont have any plans to spend for the rest of the week. Got a 30th Birthday on Saturday night which has a buffet (although drinks will be bought so not such a no spend but still - I am considering driving - I know it uses petrol but at least then I could be on water all night, but then I know a certain friend will be linching a lift off us which I dont mind really but he is a little cheeky with not paying for things as it is - He seems to think he is the only one stuggling with finances but in reality he earns what my an OH earn put together and he is on his own!!

Im off to make a lunch out of the vast amount of cheese and crackers we have in the kitchen still!

  • Not such a NSD but managed to get our initials and a R and MRS - Just missing an M and 2 &'s :rotfl: hopefully will find in Bridgemere hobbycrafts tomoro when I visit mum.
Going to do a little account sorting in a few mins, im going to get into this 'tidying up' business - i reckon I could get away with that without too much grumbling from OH.

Im thinking about reconsidering the 'food purse' idea tho - im not sure if its making me spend more instead of less as I can get things I need as I think about it instead of making do without if you know what I mean? How does everyone else do food shopping? Is it just something i need to work on?

  • All accounts sorted already - nothing to tidy up!

Spending the day being mse and working on my blog to be published next year - Its time consuming but im pleased its a free hobby, unlike my scrapbooking which can get expensive at crafts shows, i always have to make sure i take a set amount of money and hide my cards when I go there!!

  • Oh yes and im also posting things on fleabay as I remembered its free listing so am putting on a few unwanted presents. This doesnt mean im ungrateful - I had one of those S&G gift bags and I dont use the lip gloss and mascara that came with it so even if I only get 99p for it il be happy!
Does anyone else put things to one side for charity shop/ebay straight after christmas? I have had 2 hat and scarf sets which are nice enough but make me look a bit of a wally and I cant possibly fit any more stuff in my drawers, im copromising to keep one scarf andhave worn the other set to the house of the person who gave it to me so that they have seen me in it - now its in a bag ready for the charity shop - I just cant have things enter the house then live there not being used when someone else could benefit from it - Does anyone else do that?

VMD - yes - Mrs E almost always ends up with one or two well meant, but unsuitable/impractical gifts that go straight to the charity shop. As a man, food or booze drinks are easy options and I seldom end up with anything that I can't use/consume ;)

Same here - but nothing at all this year, Santa was very good to me :xmassmile.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Phew - that makes me feel a bit better!:p
I was beginning to think people would think me ungrateful. I do like the 'consumables' I had some lovely flavoured coffee and hot choc from a friend. I dont mind chocs too much as I take them to work after the hols for them to eat - even tho most are on a diet in January - they will go quicker there than at home!
I have just gotten a grip on not having too much excess 'stuff' in the house, its made life a lot easier so I dont want to take in any duplicates of things we already have, it sounds un-mfw but too much stuff makes me scatty brained!

VMD- I've also got 1 gift which won't be staying long. It is a lovely gift but we already have 2 so there is no point keeping it.

  • Ok people its New Years Eve - I LOVE this time of year. :j

Having a good old analyse of the year passed and lots of new aspirations for the year ahead!

This year I joined the MFW board which has been one of the best things iv done - everyones been lovely and so inspirational.
Since joining the MFW board we have successfully overpaid...ermm..lots? ...New plan for next year begins with a speadsheet - I need to keep track of these overpayments so that I can see the difference! Anyone know of a ready made one I can use?
    Im not lazy really... :o

Got my wedding in June, got LOTS to do before then - including shifting the [STRIKE]probable stone[/STRIKE] weight i have put on in the last few months - I said I wouldnt be one of those brides that does this but hey at least I have 6 months...well 5 months and 22 days but whos counting  So THAT coutndown will be appearing on my signature - I feel if being on here makes me accountable for my spending pounds i might aswell use it for my losing pounds too! :T

Once iv got the spreadsheet up and running I will update with figures and aims for the mortgage.

    :j Happy New 2013 everybody!! :j
