Parking in a Disabled Bay

I'm not trying to be a troll, and I must say for the record that I do avoid parking in disabled spaces except for the odd instance as per my first post.
I was merely seeking reasoned opinions on the matter to see if I alone was the sole person who does this. I don't just turn up to the shops and drive right into one, I look around for an alternative; but I am not prepared to park over 600m away to go shopping, for one thing the trolley can't go out the supermarket car park because of the magnetic strips, so why should I try to carry a full weeks shopping that distance simply because I am not disabled?
Because you're not disabled? You'd have to be quite high on the selfish scale to fight for a disabled space with someone who's already at somewhat of a physical disadvantage.
Do you push past pensioners to get to the bargain offers as well?

OP,
the bays don't give the disabled an advantage over you; they make up for the disadvantage they have compared to you.
I have only once 'misused' a disabled space. There were about 40 free on a very hot Sunday morning at the side of Tesco. The only shade available for my car with my dog in was there. I parked at the furthest space from the store and gave customer services my reg in case they needed to call me. Other than that 1 very specific, and for me, unique set of circumstances I see no reason for me to ever park in the disabled spaces without a disabled person on board.
Edit: Thinking about it, when I have a disabled person on board and they are not getting out, I just use an ordinary space.0 -

Only ever park in a disabled bay if I have one of my parents with me (and they've got their blue badge). I'm fully capable of walking the extra few yards from the 'normal' spaces.0

Maybe you should try it the other way around. Maybe you should imagine you have a disability and you can't use the spaces because they are full of able bodied people. Now try to imagine the pain you may be in if you've hobbled all the way to the store from the other end of the car park on your crutches, and still have to either walk round or get some sort of assistance in the store because the walk has left you to tired to shop.
I know anyone can use disabled spaces in shops without being penalised, but imo it's as selfish as it comes. But then again, so are some of the oldies, who see me parking in a disabled spot until they see my dd attempting to get out the car.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Are you being serious?0 -
At my local Tesco's it does my head in. Every space within a decent distance is always taken, yet 30+ disabled are all empty bar 1 or 2.
I always park in the disabled. I'm 24 with no condition. At any private car park, I park the closest to where I want to go.
If that means disabled or parent and child (I have no children) then so be it.0
