Hi all! Hurrah for functioning internet! Yes I think you're all right about Negative Friend - everyone has their gripes with their job - I don't expect it to be easy (in fact I WANT the challenge) or happy and perfect, but I'm definitely not happy where I am now so what's to lose (apart from money?)
I replied to her tonight to clarify a few points, we'll see what she says.
Kitty, wow that's drastic about your OH, how are you feeling this evening? From an obv=jective point of view, I guess it's best if you decide one way or the other sooner rather than later if you want to concentrate on your training...? Big hugs though x
Birdie, how did you get on with a Gaga outfit? I did a quick google image search for inspiration but nothing seemed THAT outlandish, apart from a Kermit dress, which I actually loved. Did you know there are Gaga Barbies (I'm sure you did!)?
Thanks for those links Kitty, I was going to ask if you knew of any practice tests, will have a look at it tomorrow.
Here's my roundup for the day:
Health - I shredded and kept under my calories, feeling very motivated by my weight loss!
Wealth - Had a NSD but that's about as far as it goes.
Happiness - Fired off a few more emails, in particular to people who may be able to help me out with some classroom experience so fingers crossed for those. Hoping to get some under my belt by half term.
Right I'm off to bed, need to be up earlier in the mornings if I want to shred - it's only a 20 minute workout but realistically it's 40 mins between getting out of bed and into the shower, and now that schools are back I need to set off earlierBonsoir a tous!

Maybe it helps that I want to do primary rather than secondary, so I won't have hormonal teenagers to deal with?

I was trying to work out how to put that myself - thanks ShrimpyBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Eeek, hormonal kids, or will that be their parents? I get teary at the start of a new school year when dropping DD off, even now! She's going into year 3 and I know I'll need tissues and a hug from one of my TA friends to get me through it, lol.
Tete - just sent you through a numeracy pdf test. It was so sweet, DD read out the mental arithmetic questions at the beginning for me so I couldn't cheat as the answers are underneath (grrrr, wish they weren't, the temptation can be sooooo strong!) , she's so determined I'll get onto the course that she's helping me out0 -
Haha yes, maybe you're right about the back-to-school blues. Actually thinking about it she was always quite a negative person anyway - she seems jolly enough but when you're around her a long time she saps your energy a bit. I certainly don't need any of THAT right now!
How sweet of your daughter Kitty! Thanks so much for the PDF, I've printed it off to look at at home tonight (work is just horrendous - I have 80 emails in my inbox this morning as well as an actual job to do (I'm not just here to answer people's stoopid questions) AND we're supposed to be packing for the move on Thursday. So sick of it all.) I guess you're not allowed a calculator (!) but are you allowed paper and pen to do the workings? Had a glance at the questions and there's no way I could do them in my head :eek:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
No calculator for the first 12 questions, they're read out twice and then there's an 18 second gap til the next question! For the second section there's an online calculator you can use (thank goodness!).
From what I've seen you are given a white board or paper to do your workings out on, there's no way I could answer the questions without writing something down, way too hard.....not least as I did my O level Maths in 1987 and although I did get a B it was a fluke as I think I was predicted to fail!!
The first link I put up last night has an audio file of 12 questions with the gap in there, I did it and was pleased with my result, but that's probably down to DD's coaching earlier in the day0 -
P.S. Have not yet kissed but have made up with OH. He knows he was a berk at the weekend and I know I over-reacted somewhat.......he's now suffering with a 'minor' MS relapse
so not sure when I'll see him at the mo, but it made me realise yesterday when talking to him that I do want to be with him, and I guess part of his behaviour at the weekend was probably enjoying being away from his evil, mean, moany girlfriend and kind of paying me back a bit for some of the way I've treated him recently!

OMG, so you only have 18 seconds to answer?? Eep! I was under the impression it was all on a computer screen like the driving theory (just because I think it's the same test centres that do it..)Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

At least you have some clarity about wanting to be with him. I guess you wouldn't have been as annoyed about the berkish behaviour if you didn't, you'd have been glad to see the back of him for a while! Hope you get sorted xWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Yes, you put your answers on the screen but can use the whiteboard to do your calculationsThe question is read out twice then an 18 second gap then the next screen and questions come up, you can't finish off one question whilst they're reading out the next
Basically as soon as the voice says any number, write it down and start thinking. Gulp.
The tests are run by Pearson who probably do the driving tests as well? I'm so old that I didn't have a theory test. Just a few questions about stopping distances at the end of the driving bit0 -
Oh god it sounds horrendous! Am I right in thinking you can take it as many times as it takes to pass, but you must have passed before the PGCE starts? Or must you have passed before applying?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
