iceicebaby wrote "I deal with sending bacs files from the company I work for everday and have lots of experience of the workings of bacs. If anyone wants to ask anything please do" Irresistible! (On topic, glad to see so many MSE participants have indeed received their funds today!) Now, what can you tell us, iceicebaby, about same-day arrival of BACS from some (but not all) banks to Building Societies that use them for clearing? This is pertinent for monthly deposits to regular saver accounts. Barclays does this (if Sort Code begins with '20-')
Lloyds TSB sometimes does this.
any other bank?0 -
The company I work for had some trouble sending its BACS files on Wednesday (you have to submit the files 2 days before you want the paymentto reach its destination). Most of the files did eventually get processed, but one did not. When I spoke to BACS Operations they said "well it was working at 11pm, you could have sent it then."
Well, yes, it hadn't been working properly for hours, they could have just sat there all night on the off chance it might get fixed.
Yes, they must be owned by the banks to give that level of customer service. Not even wrong0 -
