  • Have spent £17 something today. £10 on lunch, and £7 something on 2 cards and a gift for hubby who goes to afghan tomorrow. Shouldn't need to buy anything else now. Though a consoling chocolate bar may help.

    Hope everyone is well.

    Hello everyone!

Bought two tickets to go see Alun Cochrane in Wem for November (£24 from another budget) yesterday morning.

Have been trying to sort out who supplies our electricity as six months had passed and STILL haven't had a bill. Called the MPAN team for our area who said they couldn't find us attached to anyone and said the best thing for us to do would be shop around and find a company we want to go with and ask them to set us up with an MPAN number. Tried OVO and EDF who both said we were not on the national database so wouldn't take us. Eventually went to Scottish Power as the woman from EDF suggested us to because we live in a fairly new build property (been around for about 5 yearsish) and Scottish power are meant to supply all new builds around here, found out that when the properties were built they didn't put the meter on the database and it had never been spotted despite there being people here before us. The bloke has managed to set us up and did a reading from yesterday and then told us that we couldn't be charged from before that reading so we have had six months electric for FREE :j

    £9.88 / £10.00 (12p in the savings tin)

Also have opened the Santander E saver at 3% to put my savings in after I have used my ISA allowance. Should be good especially as that's the only thing I have with Santander so I won't be able to see it unless I absolutely, positively HAVE to :)

  • Hi All,

After last week (w/c 26th August) i ended up having a RED week and decided to pledge £50.00 for this week (w/c 2nd September).

Has been a bit of a disastrous week in some ways...

I moved into a shared house which is great - saving me loads. It was my flatmate's birthday and ended up buying present and take away for her, me and other flatmate... Had promised I would as a moving in present... Also a friends birthday, and bought a gift for a work colleague who is having a tough time. Unplanned for expense (1).

Got to work to find shoes had a hole in! Unplanned expense (2)

Good news - I inherited some money!!!! Yippeee!!!

    I splurged a bit... Unplanned expense (3)

Had a week of social engagements - some on the spur of the moment. Also ran away with luxuries like wine and food.

I've just sat down and totalled it all <gulp>

Food expenses (wine, take aways, groceries) = £105.57!!!
    Gifts = £11.97
    Essentials (shoes) = £30.00
Spent on me (splurge) = £60.50

    Total Spending = £213.50.

I did buy something nice to remember my Nan & Grandad by (a nice crystal) which I feel good about... and the majority of their inheritence (£1000.00) has gone to savings and off one debt. Still - shows how easily money can slip through your fingers.

So am declaring a BIG RED week £213.50/£50.00 but...

Ended up ORANGE with the inheritence (but feel like that is cheating!!!). Don't want to mask my poor budgeting and lack of willpower so RED it is!

Am away this week and have lots of travelling so am pledging:

    W/C 09th September (petrol, food and spends) : £115.00

    Thanks everyone!

I hope you had a better week than I managed.

Thanks Nan & Grandad for the money you left me - I love and miss you both. I will put your money to good use and it will help me to rebuild a solid financial future. Love always xxx

Awww that's lovely Abundant, i'm sure they'll be pleased to know that you are using it well.

And your shoes may have been unplanned but like you say pretty essential.

I am declaring green this week, with a total of £22.95/ £30 for the week, not too bad, but really going to try and reign in the adhoc and random spends, i dont mind paying for meals out and entertainment, but i really frustrate myself when i 'pop' to the shops and spend the odd few pounds here and there.

Am setting £30 for W/C 9th Sept. Have a meal out on Monday, but not much else for the week, well a couple of planned spends, nails and hair, but that's it.

    Enjoy the weekend everyone.

  • Had initially spent £8.92 of my £10 (train ticket for work, magazine and bread). Didn't finish work until twenty five to six so had to draw ANOTHER £10 to cover my bus journey home (had no book and no music to listen to otherwise I would have waited the hour for my train)
I made sure to put all the change in my savings tins.

    £11.32/£10.00

Saving tins had a very good day though (£8.68 in)

    Total for week was:

£53.67/£70.00 (£16.33 in the saving tins)

Am going to pledge £70 for W/C 9th.

Abundant - nothing can replace the love of a family member but that is going to be a huge positive turning point for your future. All the best everyone xx
