    Thanks for the advice :-)

I budget in £25 per week for spends/socialising/clothes/entertainment etc... Is this realistic?

    Will have a think...

    Declaring RED next week (90.99/50.00).

Next week pledging £50.00 until i rework my budget.

    Thanks

Of course you can. pp should be back and will start the new thread as soon as she can. You can either post your budget here on sat or on the new thread when it's up and running.

    Good luck with the challenge.

£6 something spent so around £16 so far. Going to a wedding on fri and have a different budget for that so should be making it green this week.

i have budgeted for £110 for next week to include everything, we are travelling and attending a wedding so its more than i hoped for the first week of me doing a challenge but hope to come in under budget
    this is too include:
    £40 petrol
£10 odds and sods (milk and bread etc)
    £20 electric
    £10 preschool
    £30 drinks @ wedding
    £110 total
    200 weeks £25,000.00 / £700

Hello, am needing somebody to kick me up the butt for next week. Got back from Llandudno yesterday and basically any intentions of being good to my wallet and my body fell flat on it's face the moment I arrived  so unfortunately I was over my spends for the week. *Sighs* back to it tomorrow.

Does anybody have any tips on how they manage to stay on track, especially if on holiday and if anybody has any ideas on cheap/free things to do in Llandudno, we'll be going back next year :)

Welcome aborad optimistic-mummy and good luck xx

    NOvember #29 1/NSD £0/£250.
  • Mid week update:

    Pledged £50.00

    Spent: - £24.00 Groceries
    - £23.00 Take Away for me and bf

    = £3.00 Spare

Then I fell off the wagon. Was going to try and hide it in another expense and justify that in my head but thought no - declare it!!! Own up!!!

    Additional: - £32.61 DVDs
    - £11.38 Game Pre-Order

    Total: £90.99 / £50.00 (RED)

GRRR!!! I need to budget for things like this - not buy on a whim...

How does everyone else do this??? Do you have a pot to save for things... or just say this is how much you have - don't spend over... or save it and add to next weeks - THEN buy it?

    All advice appreciated!

Hey abundant, sorry, i missed your post somehow.

I try and save a small amount from my wages each month for treats such as books, clothes, CD's, pudding on a night out. :D etc.

But i also tend to have an amount left for spending each week after bills/ DD's etc are paid. At the moment i divide that usually across 4 weeks, which is approx £30 per week. For any weekly spends, evenings out etc, if i have a particularly quiet week then i might 'roll over' any money that is left. So some weeks i might roll over £20 and add that to my £30.

That way i also stay focused so if i am thinking of wasting some of my weekly money i remind myself that i won't get the treat the following week when its 'rolled over'. If that makes sense?

I also don't use my weekly spends for this challenge for groseries i have a seperate monthly budget for that.

Although sometimes you just got to have willpower. :D

Also dont be mad with yourself. best to learn from it and work out ways to budget for the things you want, so you don't feel like you are failing or being bad. We all have blips. :D

  • :wave:Welcome to all newbies

This week has been very quiet and I've spent nothing (as far as counts for this challenge) so I was going to report back a purple week, then I opened the post this afternoon and there was a cheque for £47.25 from refund for a car insurance policy I had about 4 years ago, I didn't even know I was owed the money so that was a bonus.

    Last week was ORANGE :j

Pointy I hope your trip to the US went smoothly and your spends were low.
Next week I plan to spend no more than £5
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
