Hot water new boiler

there you go i have edited my post does that make you feel better now ?
in the context of this post a capped off pipe is not relevent & by you telling someone that the term they have used is wrong when everyone in the trade knows what they mean is not helpful at all.
maybe you should stop reading from your training manuals & get out in the real world & get some experience.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Well if the installer doesnt come back (I am not hopeful) what are my options? Is it likely a new cylinder might rectify? I mean 45 degrees is hot (not hot enough really) but its not enough to kill legionnaires is it?0
 -
Sorry, but the world and his wife around here and as far as the Midlands and parts of up North where I have colleagues all know a dead leg as I do.
You southern softies obviously have your own thoughts.
I only have 20 years experience in this industry, well at December this year, no doubt you have longer as all you seem to know is stuff from before then.
No doubt you are an ex BG idiot who knows nothing other than anyone who was not BG knows nothing.
I don't need training manuals thanks, but it is obvious you do, especially as you were way behind the times over unvented discharge regs, the same as you appear to be on everything you post!0 -
No, 40-45c is the perfect temperature to breed and multiply Legionnaires disease, but you have to have infected water in your cylinder first.
You say a Worcester Greenstar, but which one, there are loads of them!0 -
            Its a Worcester Greenstar 18ri0

Sorry Southcoast rgi but you are wrong. I'm not going to argue about it as it doesn't help the OP but maybe you should try and accept it graciously instead of trying to undermine others.
OP: the two things I would check before calling out the installer is that the cylinder stat is making good contact with the cylinder and that the boiler is set to max.
You should get plenty of hot water with that boiler. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
Thank you. Should it be set to max on the boiler? I have now put it on 3/4 way round.0
 -
That should be a lot better at that position. There shouldn't be any need to set it to max, other than to experiment with getting your HW hot enough.
They are pretty good boilers, I have fitted quite a few, mainly where the customer wants a boiler to fit entirely in a kitchen wall cupboard.
If you set the boiler stat too low, then nothing will ever heat up properly and the boiler will just keep on burning gas and wasting it.
Turning the boiler stat up higher, but not max, will help save a bit of gas as the hotter the water that leaves it, the sooner external cylinder stat and room stat will be satisfied and able to turn off the boiler.
Unfortunately that boiler doe not have a digital readout stat, so stick with it at 3/4 for now and see how you get on.
The HW should be as hot as the cyl stat is set after around 30 minutes or so.0 -
            Thank you.
I have it now on 3/4 and the stat on the boiler is 70 degrees. I only have a thermometer which goes to 50 degrees and the water did just reach that with the 2 small amendments I had made to the cylinder stat and the boiler knob control. Still its not at 70 I do not think.
Still confused by this all though. I am going to buy a new thermometer tomorrow which goes beyond 50. Is it likely to be a faulty cylinder? Thinking about changing that as its pretty old anyway.0 -

nope yet again you are wrong i've never worked for BG

yes as you quite rightly pointed out & i admitted i was wrong, however if it is not stated in the MI & if i remember rightly someone had re-sat his G3 not too long ago wasn't told either, & while we are on about that thread you would have been quite happy to fit this 4 pipe boiler when it wasn't compatible with the OP's cylinder, did you come back & say sorry you are right ? NO, because you just had to find something else to find wrong, it takes a bigger man to admit when he has made a mistake.Sorry Southcoast rgi but you are wrong. I'm not going to argue about it as it doesn't help the OP but maybe you should try and accept it graciously instead of trying to undermine others.
no i'm sorry i won't admit i am wrong at all i work in the south & thats what it is called here, i don't try to undermine anyone but some people don't like it when they are wrong well thats tough, so what do you northeners call a long dead leg with a cap on it ? or more to the point what do you call a long lenght of pipe from the cylinder to the outlet if you don't call it what i do ?
oh & btw maybe you should have a word with your mate about undermining people before having a go at me, the words pot kettle black spring to mind.
