You'll just have to find other ways of keeping him occupied, LadyM ;)

You could always take him shopping tomorrow, tell him to choose any game you like, whilst you get to go off and shop for girly things?!?!

That would be lovely but I'm not well enough to go out at the moment :(, hence buying online. :(

Ah well. He has plenty of musician stuff to be getting on with anyway, I guess! :rotfl:

so not stupid enough to use 48 hour tracked but fine with using 1st class?so how does this special 1st class work? is it only for Amazon or do other companies get it too? has the regulator been made aware of this?

As I say it's printed on the label, customers are going to complain if they pay for next day delivery and then see 48 hour printed on their parcel.

Believe it or not, not everyone has the detailed knowledge you hold on RM and what the regulator allows them to do or not but outside RM any large customer will given treatment above the rest if their spend warrants it.

I received two emails from two different people at Amazon.

One telling me that if my item hasn't arrived by tomorrow then to get in touch, which is a Sunday, so obviously there isn't going to be any post!

Then another person emailed me to say that they are sorry that the order wasn't received today and that they've issued a refund for the £5.99.

Still annoying that the game won't be received until Tuesday but happy that I got a refund. :)

Given Amazon's clout I hazard a guess that they have some kind of agreement with RM to help increase the success their 1st Class mail arriving the next day.

Yes you are right, Amazon 1st class are treated differently, they are scanned also to show they have arrived for delivery , which doesn't happen to normal first class parcels.

btw I just ordered an item from Amazon using supersaver free delivery, ordered in the early hours of Friday morning and got it today

I once complaint about a later delivery, it turned up the next day, on Sunday! not sure if it was because of the complaint or because it was delivered by one of those self employed delivery guys who use their own car?

So how do you envisage that working?
    80 million items
how do you filter out the amazon packets to prioritise them?

I ordered a cd at the end of June and paid for next day delivery and it was just sent first class with no tracking. Of course it didn't come, we had to go out and find it in a shop because it was to be played at a funeral. They did refund the delivery charge and supply a returns label to send it back but I think they should say that they just send it first class if you pay for next day delivery, when you pay for something guaranteed you do expect they would be using a guaranteed next day delivery service, which first class is not.
